They didn't lean so far left. Their leadership is generally left of center, normal liberals, and not progressives. You are buying into the BS if you think Biden, Harris, Schumer and Jeffries are "so far left" - they are not Bernie, and Bernie and his flank are not the leadership of the party, though Trump is certainly making AOC look damned good right now.

That said I agree with OP. I think Trump is awful and I blame the Democratic Party for leaning so far left that they lost the middle and even middle right who would have voted for Harris.
