There is simply no scenario if which MLSN2 teams will be forced to play up an age division in showcases and have no Jan to Aug birthdays while MLSN P2P and Academies will.

It makes sense.

The Philly Unions aren't changing to accommodate the FC Delcos
The Philly Unions don't exist without being subsidized by the FC Delcos. Could try to stay BY for an extra year or so before economics wins the day for SY.

And I am hoping for both BY and SY for top level leagues to reduce RAE.

How much in subsidies does FC Delco pay to Philadelphia Union?
Not enough, they need MLN2 to try to keep academies afloat.

How much is not enough?
It's youth soccer, it is always not enough. Leagues see the bank P2P clubs make. Tax returns show local club revenues of $4-8 million. Player sales are too meager to cover costs for academies, they need a cut of the bigger pie.

Where is it listed how much money pay-to-play clubs are giving to MLS Club Academies?

Leagues charge fees. For instance, https://www.mlssoccer.com/mlsnext/resources/rules-and-regulations/#:~:text=Registration Costs,be %2450 per participating individual.

That’s exactly why mlsnext won’t stay BY. It opens the door for ecnl to be a first choice option for sept-dec birthdays who aren’t going to an mls academy. They don’t want two top leagues, they want what they have now, which is a clear 1 / 2 order at the top.

This is the dumbest logic I keep seeing.

The Sept-Dec kids that bail MLSN for ECNL are the ones that are struggling. Talent begets talent…nobody is following the benchers. And a league of benchers doesn’t compete.

ECNL boys right now is the league of benchers, so you’re assuming that some top September kid, is going to sprint to a team of benchers because what?

More exposure?…nope
Better opportunity?…nope
Better future pathway?…nope
Etc etc etc

Age cutoffs don’t matter as much as you think they do.

How do clubs play in international tournaments if they switch to birth year? This is one reason I see MLS Next not switching to SY.

I mean school year. How would MLS Next teams play international teams if they switch to SY?

This will greatly deconflict the tounament issues.

Except those with international teams

Prem academy’s all sep 1. Easy peasy.

??? Forgive me for not understanding. England does the 9/1-8/31 grouping. The rest of the world does birth year. Yes, premier academies could play each other in the US, and against English clubs. But how would an MLS Next team on the 9/1 cutoff play a Japanese team in Japan, for example?

This currently occurs for too ECNL teams too.

From my understanding they’re groupings are about half older as and half younger, so they move kids up or down as needed. I think they are probably given a lot of leeway in international competition. Will the US get the same treatment?

If you're sitting crossing your fingers and hoping desperately for your kid's league to change to SY because DC is mediocre in BY

DC going to be mediocre in SY as well
It ain't magic or miracle cure

This is awesome! The "I'm miserably so I am going to try to make you are miserable also" strategy.

Nope, there will be winners and losers. This is a zero sum game.

Yeah because so many MLSN teams are playing internationally.

Oh well, I was totally picturing MLSN P2P going to Japan Bad News Bears style.

Very surprised to learn this is a completely made up myth to try to win an irrelevant argument among anonymous people.
