PGCS are closed AGAIN today! Genuinely shows why DCPS could not wait on surrounding school districts to open. |
To the smug poster insisting teachers were liars about no heat: https://wjla.com/news/local/washington-dc-dcps-public-schools-weather-forecast-heat-snow-days-ron-brown-college-preparatory-powell-elementary-deal-middle-goding-cold-conditions
Again, don’t ever speak about things you have no idea about. |
What post said teachers were lying about the heat being out? I see posts that say not having a heat is a problem that needs to be fixed, and posts saying that it must not have been out in the whole building because other students weren't affected.
Where is the post calling teachers liars? |
This is like a game of telephone. Someone said some schools are not equipped with heat at all and people said BS. That's very different from saying schools have heat but it's on the fritz in some parts of those schools and they need to call the HVAC guy. Also, this thread needs to end. |
Regarding the heating issue, I posted upthread that if buildings are without heat, that is an issue regardless of the snow. It's not a reason to declare a snow day, it's a reason to address heating in those buildings.
I say this as someone whose child attended a DCPS school in disrepair for 3 years, dealing with both heating and AC issues, cockroach and rodent infestation, water leaks, ceiling tiles falling in. It was a an absolute embarrassment and we harassed DCPS regularly about it. But it wasn't a reason to close every school in the city. I kept my kid home from school more than once due to unsafe conditions and was vocal about it. They are separate issues. |
I heard there's one school that doesn't even have walls. Outrageous! |
