That’s right, dammit. Austerity. Stoicism. NO LUXURIES. Money is to be hoarded and used only for bare necessities.

I didn't say that at all. But the examples here are ridiculous. Fancy soap or shampoo? Extra wool socks? WTH?

I don’t like those things but I don’t see the problem. Comfortable feet are super important, and some people love a good shower.

Anyway, my little luxuries are a really nice, big heating pad I use when watching TV. Good tea. A fancy Kindle and I buy books on it when I want, I don’t wait for library books.

This. I devour books, both on my Kindle and via Audible, and I've decided that at this point in my life I deserve to read what I want when I want to read it so I spend hundreds a year on books and audiobooks but I love it and it doesn't bother me. I don't buy coffee out though, so honestly I probably spend less than most people if you consider that.

Same. My other luxury is that I find time to knit every day. The tactile creativity and my love of yarn makes this a wonderful little luxury to sneak in, especially when things are super chaotic.

I tried knitting once and couldn't get into it but I like doing other crafts that involve hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. They're a nice contrast to the work I do during the day, which doesn't involve anything like that.

Soon it will be cold enough for my Uggs Sherpa cotton flannel comforter. It's so soft, cuddly and warm. It makes me happy to get in bed every night.

Chocolove Extreme Dark Chocolate 2 squares a night. It's not bitter and has a nice mouthfeel.

Ignore those posters. The rest of us are enjoying the thread.

I show up late and leave early from work. We have to go into the office and the work still needs to get done - it just feels good to trim a little off the ends.

I could stay in the lounge but I give this to myself as a luxury to decompress. Even making small talk in the teachers lounge with others is energy zapping for me.

A three-minute drive?!? Why do you drive in when you live so close? Or is this some exurb where sidewalks don't exist?

If the person drives 3 minutes, at 25 mph, that’s about 1.25 miles. Walking would take the whole 30 minute lunch hour. Guess, that’s why they drive.

Just want to say this is a surprisingly pleasant thread (compared to most of the bickering on DCUM) and I hope it continues! I'm already looking into those PJs and the latte machine. Just reading these posts is relaxing and lovely.

Mine is fancy lingerie and fancy loungewear! Retro silk nightslips, rompers, tap shorts, sexy bra and undies..... Every day it feels indulgent to put the bra and undies on in the morning, and then at quitting time, to put on my absurd silk outfit, and then sit in my midcentury entertainment pit and drink a cocktail.

Huh?

A hot bath on a day where you are freezing cold and your fingers are like icicles. Sitting there for 15 minutes is the best.

Lush products are garbage and actually toxic. I'm surprised to see them mentioned here.

I’m with you on the bra - I recently bought some expensive, but perfect fitting bras with a touch of sexy, and I look forward to putting them on every morning!

Can’t do the rest though - I have kids 😀

To echo a PP, I am surprised to hear so many perfumed products being mentioned. I thought the consensus was that the additives in perfumed products are not good for you…

Silk and cashmere. Over the years, I've accumulated a lot of both and gotten rid of the rest. So those are basically the only fabrics I wear now.

I live not far from a Lush store and nearly vomit every time I walk by.
