and Tesla?

Something else is going on..

You know people can buy things on credit right? And who knows when he bought that home, could be 10+ years ago when it was cheap and as a vet he probably had 0 down payment and low interest. Also they had tenants in the basement

They bought the house a year ago.

Nadia has worked tirelessly to lead search efforts and spread the word. There's a gofundme to help her search efforts, which may possibly be used to support the orphaned little girl. By all accounts Nadia seems like a trustworthy, determined, and incredibly kind woman.

I bet that disgusting man was thinking no one would raise the alarm about her being missing because she had no family here (and they are far away and essentially powerless) and not many friends. I'm certain he was counting on this not turning into a huge story and maybe even ending up being something like a cold missing person's case. But Nadia made sure that did not happen - so Mamta had at least one true friend here who loved her and fought for her and her daughter, and that made a huge difference.

Here's the gofundme. There are lots of nutty gofundme's out there (most of them), but I trust this one. Nadia was seen making a list of things she'd need to take care of the little girl. And no, she's not putting pictures of herself out there.

https://gofund.me/77f99761

I hope she is going through the foster care system to get the training/approval required of her and that she will give up the child to its family in Nepal when the time comes.

I do not trust this Nadia girl at all. She first stated she would never ask for money, then commented yesterday that she might need therapy, someone responded to her offering her therapy for free which she ignored and updated the gofundme today stating needs have changed and some of the money will be used for her to get therapy services. I don’t know why but something just doesn’t pass the vibe check for me . She has been able to gather a lot of support from people who would try to fight anyone saying anything but this is just off, plus this need to want to take this baby like its some sort of thing to be passed on is crazy to me. She still has relatives who clearly want her and should be first in line. The fact that Nadia doesn’t seem to understand that is nuts!

I'm glad I'm not the only one getting opportunistic vibes from this chick. She is supposedly now planning a "SYMBOLIC celebration of life for Mamta without her remains" but it is NOT a funeral because she wants to leave that up to the family. Lots of commenters are confused, saying that Hindu end of life rituals are very specific, asking if the family has been informed or is attending, stating that this SHOULD be handled by the family versus Nadia, and she is very vague in her responses.

I also understand that it's very difficult to intervene in DV situations. But where was this woman when Mamta was posting in mom groups about her situation / looking for help?

Finally, why does SHE need therapy so badly over Mamta's actual family and (someday) her daughter?

+100000% i completely agree! She is now planning to use the gofundme to plan a celebration without talking to the family or understanding their needs/wants. This is so utterly disrespectful especially in that culture and the fact people support this is nuts! She is trying to make it all about her and us probably enjoying the attention, not following any of her familys wants and having all the internet behind her because people don’t understand mamta’s culture and family. There are other groups where people talk about other people who were very close to mamta and have been doing all the work behind the scene. This Nadia had no idea what was going on in mamta’s life, seems like mamta sent her a message once many months ago about helping babysit her daughter and thats the only message she’s shared as proof that mamta was her so called close friend. It did not seem like Mamta was talking to Nadia often or was part of her life. Mamtas facebook is very public and you can barely see any trace of Nadia there or comments or interactions. This is so crazy to me

I am not a fan of GFMs. There have been a few public free gatherings already. IMHO better to conserve that $ for the baby and for needs of her grandmother when in US.

From DC News Now link above

The prosecution claimed that in addition to trying to clean up blood in their Manassas Park home, Naresh Bhatt physically abused his wife and made Google searches on his government-issued laptop in April regarding the death of a spouse.

The prosecution read those searches aloud verbatim in court, “how long does take to marry after spouse dies” and “what happen debt after spouse dies.”

I wonder if there is a life insurance policy? RIP Mamta.

Omg you are right! She deleted it. I wonder if there is a way to get archives of these sites. She keeps updating the gfm. This is what its showing now in case she updates it again:

A memorial service: We are hoping to hold a beautiful memorial service for Mamta. It is important for us as the people who loved her to be able to celebrate.
Justice: We are keeping quiet about this one for now, but rest assured we have big plans for the future.
Awareness: We have printed and distributed about 1,500 flyers thus far. We have t-shirt ideas as well as banner designs in the works. It has taken a bit of time and printing has taken up time too. I have personally made the designs and I'm still workshopping a lot of things. We are also working on a website to answer questions about Mamta's case.
Miscellaneous: We have had a few unexpected expenses, including pens, packaging tape for the flyers, clear file folders to protect the flyers, clipboards for volunteers so that the flyers don't get bent, boxes, binder clips, notebooks, a pouch to physically organize receipts, and much more. I even purchased a tick remover for a safety kit I put together for the volunteers, and it did come in handy!

The ‘Justice’ one is ridiculous. How is raising money going to make justice happen? It’s not like the prosecutors are going to charge the family for their services.

He was running those searches months before she was killed and he was clearly in financial straits based on searches alone. You have no idea if he took out a policy on her or hoped to cash in on an existing one.

The baby's needs and the grandmother's while in US are real needs. T shirts are not. This is nuts. Glad I did not contribute. Prosecutors will issue updates on the case, there is no need for a website.

Exactly.

This woman seems reluctant to let the attention go. Odd.

No need for flyers, banners, t shirts or tick removal. The money should go to the BABY and grandmother.

The colleague who speaks publicly is doing a good job for the family imho.

The searches and public attention were useful, now the case has moved on and there has been an arrest. Updates will be from the govt via statements or the media.

People who donate likely expect funds will go to the child not tape, t shirts or tick kits. The GFM should be ended.

There is nothing about therapy on the GFM so maybe she saw ur post and deleted.

DP bit been following all this with interest. She definitely has been deleting/changing FB posts and the GFM. I saw the notes about therapy and the service yesterday, and those have since been changed. She also deleted several FB posts on her group.

When I searched Matma's name at GFM this came up, all proceeds to her daughter.

Are there 2 different GFMs run by 2 different people?
