Shapiro pick would kill Harris campaign but the pro Israel people will most likely force it down everyone throat. Netanyahu already is actively undermining Harris and that means the pro Israel dems will work against Harris. Apparently Harris was not sufficiently supportive of Netanyahu at their meeting.

Not sure what you mean by "pro-Israel". Anyone who likes Netanyahu is voting Trump. Other Jews who think Israel should exist but can't stand Netanyahu will vote democrat no matter who the VP is. I personally hope it's not Shapiro because antisemitism is so strong and awful I don't want it to be more of a focus and yes, that will mean losing some votes. I'm hoping for Kelly.

Your post is confusing. By default, anyone who likes Netanyahu is "pro-Israel".

Now...I've been reading up on the history of how Israel was "formed" and admittedly I am far from an expert on it...but this conflict has been going on for many decades for a reason -- it was born of multiple complexities that to this day are still complex. And this isn't the right forum for this comment...but I don't understand why (and this actually started before WW2) anyone thought it was a good idea to give a religious group any land or country solely based on religion? Why wasn't it simply set up like the Vatican? Of course, it doesn't really matter now because what's done is done...I am just trying to better understand it and reading up on it as best I can.

I'm not going to engage about the conflict and its history. This is a VP thread. Pro-Israel Democrats do not love Netanyahu and are not going to work against Harris on Netanyahu's behalf.

If Shapiro is the VP pick I am out. He shared many of the same positions as the most extreme pro Israel posters. From passing laws against BDS, arresting peaceful protesters, no ceasefire, putting Israel over the interest of the US and US citizens, willingness to ignore the US constitution to suppress criticism of Israel, etc. The people who hold these views also believe in annexation of the West Bank, justified crimes against humanity, genocide, etc.

Then you'll be out and you can vote for someone even more pro-Israel: Trump. I think it'll be Kelly though (also pro-Israel...)

No politician will ever have the guts to NOT be pro-Israel in some form or fashion. That would be career ending - you'd be "cancelled" for sure and labeled anti-semetic.

America is a strange country. I’ve always said I wanted Jon Stewart to be President. He’s super popular in the Middle East, America, millennials, and he’s Jewish. He isn’t as crazy as a Netanyahu but he isn’t a super leftist like Bernie Sanders either.

Good move. Trump would clearly be better, so this is rational and makes sense.

Totally unrelatable choice for anyone in PA or upper Midwest. This was a horrible pick. He brings nothing to the ticket and he’s ….. just way, wayyyyyy too white. Like Lex Luthor-white.

Eh, I think a gun-owning astronaut will appeal to plenty of white men.

This is why Shapiro won't be the pick. Israel and Palestine are the third rail of this election cycle.

I know you meant that sarcastically but based on the record, Trump actually was better on foreign policy than the current administration and the administration before him.

Maybe it won't be Kelly. Between his ex-wife and shining for an MLM he may have too much baggage. Hopefully they are vetting very carefully.
