Then stop whining about people who board before you getting your precious bulkhead seat. |
Me too. Flying isn’t fun, no matter the airline. SW, IMHO, is the worst. I don’t want to have to remember to call/text for my boarding space. I much prefer an assigned seat. No matter when I board, my seat will be there and there is no need to get in a cattle line and rush the gate. United is far from perfect, but assigned seats, Economy Plus and Biz upgrades, a global network, and even full cans of drinks, make it way better than SW. Also, like SW, I get free checked bags. |
Wasn't me whining. Just pointing out that the angry entitled poster seemingly doesn't actually travel much and doesn't know much about SWA or their policies. Is that you? Why do you keep posting and arguing without facts? |
Thank you! DW and I rarely sit together on SWA. She picks the first open seat she sees -- often a middle seat between two women. I look for a window. What's with the desperate need for grown ups to sit together when you're just going to bury your face in a book or your phone? |
According to WSJ, SW is considering moving to assigned seating. I do like that you will always fly on a larger aircraft (so no RJs with zero overhead bin space), you can check two bags for free and no change fees (and your credit is good forever). Like others, our family is happy to disperse on a flight to pick a window or aisle seat or whatever. If SW moved to assigned seating that would be great. |
+1. The anti- Southwest posters seem to form their opinions based on hearsay, not actual experience. |
I wouldn’t say it’s a desperate need but considering how little space there is there days all things being equal I am happier if the person next to me is someone I know. I mean it’s pretty common that if a window seat is open the middle seat next to it is as well. Don’t even get me started on the window and aisle couples … |
| I’m in a SWA flight now and I tried to sit in a seat some man was saving for his wife. I paid for A. He was too cheap to pay for two A boarding. It totally ticked me off! It’s a form of stealing. I refuse to fly SWA again unless they stop this. |
No it’s not. Stop the drama. |
This also doesn’t make sense. You are boarding when less than 1/3 of the plane is occupied if you’re in A boarding. Are you trying for a middle seat or something? What kind of seat was he saving? Only a psychopath pays for early boarding and then wastes it trying to sit directly next to someone. |
Yes it is. You are getting something you never paid for and someone else did. |
So stop flying SWA. The whining is unreal for something everyone knows is happening before they buy their tickets… |
Economy plus was $100 more on my last trip...without that there is no carry on, last choice of seats and no free bag. I will stick with SW. |
No. Economy plus is the extra legroom seats. Standard economy includes carryons and choice of seats. Basic Economy is the one that doesn't include seat assignment or carryon. |
I have flown SW plenty and much prefer United. I’m equal distance from BWI and Dulles. Obviously, if you live next to BWI, you’re not going to trek to Dulles, a United hub, just to fly UA- unless it’s for an international flight. BWI has United flights, but only to their hubs and not nearly the choices of SW. All things being equal, I think United is better all around. As others have said, I don’t like checking in for my place in line and much prefer an assigned seat. |
