If you travel from Herndon to Reston for a rec game (ie. Herndon vs GFR rec) does that make you a travel team? Stop being so stupid. Travel Teams = NCSL Travel, ECNL RL, ECNL, GA, etc.

Do teams from Puerto Rico play in those leagues? Just curious. I would expect that they have a completely different system.

I found their website. I think $550 a season in Puerto Rico (not a well off place) would be NOT recreational soccer.

Let me see if I got this right… So some losers lost to PR in the valor tournament and losers like you are trying to justify having them disqualified. Got it!

Who was disqualified?

My kids would have loved to play a travel team from puerto rico in all stars.

No one. The PR kids won the sombreros.

Just part of the general discussion of crappiness of Valor event vs normal FPYC tournament.

And they are charging rec kids money for this? That's just pathetic. Not fun for anyone.

Since those are the only teams confirmed as participating, that sounds sadly accurate. Not sure whether to feel sorrier for the poor rec teams or the LS teams. The tournament last year had a lot of scores like 14-0.

There was a match at this tourney last year, before the match the coach told the team everyone gets to score a goal.

They should use this for marketing. I think I would prefer the challenge of playing a Puerto Rican team.

They moved the registration deadline into June -yikes. (Several weeks after the FPYC deadline-maybe hoping to get someone, anyone who missed the deadline for the real tourney.)

Feel bad for the kids stuck with this mess.

The deadline has been June 1 for a while, maybe the entire time.

Have any CYA kids been notified they've been selected to play yet?

Pretty sure the CYA all star players have been informed since they are the coaches kids.

Conversation at dinner, “hey Carla, you’re my starting db for all stars. Doesn’t that sound great?”

“But Daaaaad! I wanted to play striker.”

“But honey you can’t even dribble a ball.”

Had a bad, bad year at Valor and switched clubs and not gonna lie, I'm enjoying Valor's humiliation with this train wreck. But, my kids loved all star tournament when they played rec and I'm bummed for the rec kids are getting this slop for their only tournament (and being overcharged for it as well).

It looks like they are trying to sell a GK clinic the day before for tournament players. Why not offer it for free as a thank-you for taking a chance on their ratched tournament? Because all they care about is sucking as much money as possible from people.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they charged admission fees at this point

Don't give them any ideas!

It’s been confirmed that at least one league is going to the horrible tournament. Congratulations CYA on being the lone league to openly admit to playing in the sombrero tournament.
