What they count as an app doesn’t even have to be completed. Just the slightest interest is counted.

What does that even mean??

Their application numbers are artificially inflated. They reject kids who don't complete the app but count that in their admission statistics.

All schools used to do that, but I think that's not allowed any more.

Northeastern received over 98,000 applications for admission. I don't get why some people claim that that isn't true. For whatiever reason NEU became a hot school. I know at my DC's school a good portion of the top students applied there. When you get close to 100k applications for a freshmen class of 4,500 you don't have to worry about selecting a strong class.

Have granddaughter there. Spent first semester in Belfast. Marvelous experience. Doing very well in biochemistry. Boston is a wonderful city. She chose Northeastern over BU and schools further south. I think she made a wise choice - when they came back they housed them in the Sheraton hotel with separate entrance off the Prudential center -housing guaranteed housing on campus next year.

Northeastern finally received approval to build a 1,300 bed dorm on campus. It has taken over a decade to get the approval. The dorm will start construction and be done in a few years. This won't increase the number of students, though. They have an agreement with the city to use the new dorm for existing enrollment and can't increase it.

How many students are in the Dublin campus? I am a little worried that when my child returns to Boston they won't have as broad of a friend group. That seems to be the biggest concern.

Northeastern actually bought one tower of the Sheraton. They are in the process of renovating many of the rooms. An interesting fact is that with the tunnel system you can walk from the Sheraton to most of Northeastern's campus without ever having to brave the Boston cold!

Oh NEU will use any excuse to increase enrollment. All it takes is a year of yield miscalculation and viola, they have an extra 1500 students on campus. Happened a few years ago

Northeastern's 2016 acceptance rate was almost 30%. The current numbers from their admissions office are so statistically unlikely they are laughable.
