I don't think they need marketing when they get close to 100K apps |
Nope it is a common safety these days if the state flagship isn’t possible. |
sure a common safety LOL |
That's how they get those applications and marketing helps maintain it. |
What they count as an app doesn’t even have to be completed. Just the slightest interest is counted. |
You booster people are exhausting. This thread is equally likely to be started by you versus the "hater". Discussions on other schools don't go south this way because people say their opinion and move on. Why would anyone be jealous of paying 100K for an education that is no better than your state school at a fraction of the cost. |
What does that even mean?? |
Marketing doesn't produce the kinds of performance. It's the performance that people choose. |
Their application numbers are artificially inflated. They reject kids who don't complete the app but count that in their admission statistics. |
All schools used to do that, but I think that's not allowed any more. |
Northeastern is currently the worst offender in skewing their own admission statistics. |
Because perhaps they want to be in Boston? The year my kid got London/GS, initially there were not enough advanced courses to keep my kid on schedule. I mean, an engineering major should be taking a math course both semesters of Freshman year---my kid could not. There were also not the Intro to Engineering courses. So my kid would have come back to Boston "behind". Now by April they had added some courses, but it was obvious the plan was still being developed---none of the plan was in place in Late Jan when my kid was admitted via EA. Also, initially housing was not an option once back to Boston. So kids who live in London freshman year would be tasked with finding housing themselves for sophomore year in a city they had never been to/lived in. And you will need a roommate as Boston is not cheap. Boston is a city where you have to have a broker, you pay 1-2 months rent for the privilege, and you can spend months trying to secure a place near campus (and it's not cheap). Versus at least NUIn kids can be part of the on campus housing. It can be a good experience for many kids, and the programs are becoming more defined each year. But kids should go in asking questions and make certain they understand everything. |
Wouldn’t not surprise me. School gives me time share vibes. |
This 100%! Kids do miss out on a lot by not being on campus fall of freshman year. That is when many friends groups are formed---when everyone is "new to campus". If you return in Spring or the next fall, most will already have their friends groups and it can (and often is) much harder to build a strong friend group (obviously if your kid is a major extrovert this may not be as much of an issue). All 3 of my college kids found their main friends group in the first 1-2 months of college and by end of first semester. Sure they added a few friends after that, but the main core was built in the formative months on campus. Now NUin/GS kids are not traditional transfers in that they do have a small core group from whatever campus they were at internationally. But let's say you don't gel with the 150 kids at NUIn Dublin, well you will return to Boston without many friends. |
No you are wrong. NEU received over 96K applications this year. THat's not "just anyone who has show interest thru just a tour" that is ACTUAL applications. Fact-- |
