I just took a gander at the Whitman page. That is very impressive for a public school. |
SSSAS? |
no. Not legacies but super smart---top 5 in the class. GPAs above 95. |
BC maybe in 2000. Certainly not in 2023. |
+1 |
I’m going to suggest my kid opt out of the Instagram announcement. We keep a low profile SM/internet presence as it.
Certainly don’t want the disgusting harpies on this board and college board weighing in. |
Parents maybe bothered by this but the kids don’t really care. They post their decisions either on their class decisions insta or in their profile and just get on with their lives. |
And Stanford, also unhooked. |
What about the bottom third? The top 5 kids are going to great schools but everyone else matters too. When people are thinking about having their kids apply of course they want their kid to be in the top 5 but what if you’re in the bottom half of third. Where are these kids going? Would they have been better off at a different private getting Bs instead of Cs at STA? |
How many got in Georgetown EA? Was it a down year for your HS? |
The boys at STA impress me more and more. Maturity beyond their years for the most part. Suspect it’s a combo of families they choose and the education they provide. Class act. |
I'm not sure how I feel about this thread. I have a senior, and my hope is that, since the publishing of these IG accounts has already started, we all realize that these are kids with names and faces who have chosen to put this information out there not to be judged or picked apart by other parents on an anonymous listserv, but to celebrate the end of their very long journey. So let's all be kind and celebrate with them.
Also, as a parent of a senior I would add that alot of kids do not put their decisions on these pages for privacy reasons, so they are not all accurate. |
I'm sure they would. Field (for example) is having fabulous admissions this year and they have very little in terms of academic rigor, deadlines, etc. The kids learn but it's all kind, gentle and structured around the needs of the kids. Much different than STA. The bottom 1/3 of kids at STA go to places like Penn State, SMU, Oregon, JMU, Arizona State, Syracuse etc. All good schools! |
Safeties for my children. My oldest child attends Wharton, and my youngest is still in high school (the same one her sibling attended). I’m a Penn alum, but I’m not a Wharton alum. Wharton isn’t a safety for anyone, so don’t try that line of attack. You may not like what I posted, but I’m not lying. As a matter of fact, BU was one of her safeties. I didn’t say any of those colleges are terrible schools, so please unclench. |
