Trumpworld is so bizarre and volatile that it's hard to make any kind of predictions. It could implode at any time. Or it's already settled and republicans continue to march behind their cult leader. But after Iowa, Republican opposition will start to consolidate behind Haley or DeSantis. NH and then South Carolina would presumably go well for Haley. It's possible she gets some momentum. And if she becomes the nominee, she COULD, POSSIBLY, defeat Biden.

Fixed that for you. I think conservatives will not back a minority woman with the enthusiasm necessary to defeat Biden, personally.
DeSantis was coffined after the first debate - he's already lost. The big donors are hesitating because they don't see the GOP in love with Haley, even though she's their best chance at the Presidency.

This hesitation will allow Trump to grab the nomination, again.

And Biden will be reelected because in a Biden/Trump matchup, this is the inevitable conclusion.

I think Haley will win if she’s the nominee- the question is if she consolidates the anti-Trump republican vote in the primary. While I agree she might not garner as much enthusiasm among the MAGA voters in the general election, but most will get in line and I think she’ll make up for it by appealing to some independents and swing voters. The visual contrast and debate performance between her and an aging Biden will be so stark.

I don’t see any other republican candidates seriously challenging Trump.

There are too many indepedent pro-choice women, and too many GenZ new voters who will not support an anti-choice candidate.

And, there are too many white male MAGAs who will not vote for anyone but Trump.

In swing states though? It doesn’t matter if Biden runs up the vote counts in states already likely to go this way. I’m just not sure abortion is enough of an issue in the states that matter (I’m from one of them, FWIW)- especially since Haley, as of now, is not pushing for a national ban.* It would be status quo since Roe v. Wade kicked it back to the states.

* I dont necessarily trust her on this, but she’ll come out looking more sane relative to the other republicans, and I think swing voters would be more likely to overlook her abortion stance if they don’t think it will affect them.

But there's independents to consider. Def pro choice moderate GOP stands a chance. MAGA would lose outright with DT. Biden doesn't stand a chance v someone who can pull Dems, Rep and Independents which would be a moderate GOP candidate.

Pro choice moderate GOP candidate? Who would that be?

Christie - he's the only one, I think.

Christie is not pro-choice. He was on MSNBC spouting the same tired nonsense about 9th month abortions.

Eh, Christie left NJ with less than 20% approval rating (https://www.npr.org/2018/01/15/577650714/a-republican-star-fallen-chris-christie-leaves-office) as well as an administration tarred by the petty and vindictive. and the Fort Lee bridge scandal (https://www.cnn.com/2014/01/09/politics/chris-christie-bridge-primer/index.html). I guess he's an improvement over the blatantly corrupt and venal Trump, but um, I think the country can do better. Much better.

Would Christie make a good president?

Honestly? Yeah, probably. I'm a Democrat but I don't think I would absolutely despise life under a Christie presidency. I wouldn't LOVE it but I wouldn't wake up every day feeling like I was in a dystopian nightmare, like I did with Trump - and I do with DeSantis as governor.

Christie is not pro-choice. At all. He’s not moderate either, unless moderate just means doesn’t suck Trump’s knob.

The way out for a Republican candidate is to simply reiterate that abortion is a state issue, not a federal issue. Which is what Dobbs did. I don't think abortion is going to be an albatross for Republicans if they frame it as a state's choice. California is free to do as it wishes. And so is Missouri. Don't think too many votes will be won or lost with that position. But any candidate advocating for some kind of nationwide ban or severe restrictions is dead in the water.

This is what Christie is doing but A) that doesn’t make him pro pro-choice and B) the Dobbs decision did not leave it up to the states, it left it up to “the people and their representatives” which absolutely includes national Roe codification or a national ban depending on who is in charge.

+1 From someone who spends a lot of time in Jersey and hated him while he was in office, this describes my feelings completely. And it totally doesn’t matter because the Republicans will never select him in a primary.

Therein lies the problem. Congressional Republican leadership is on the record as advocating a nationwide ban. The question is bound to come up, and just about any D presidential candidate will frame it as the veto being the only thing standing in the way of such a ban. And even if a R presidential candidate also says that they will veto it, most people of voting age will not believe them, and they will lose support from their base.

I still think that anyone who runs as GOP nominee other than Trump will have a shot v Biden. As they would have to win first the party's nomination which means whomever it is will not be completely insane (if it's not Trump). I just don't think Trump would be rejected as their candidate if they had anyone who could win - there's enough big money that don't want Trump in there. So really, if anyone runs v Biden, they have a really good shot. Biden is not a good candidate, he's just someone other than Trump.

He just basically said he would militarily invade Mexico. He's an idiot.

No, he didn't.
He said he would go after the cartels using the military. I agree with him.
And, the cartels are within our own country. Do you not know this?

I do know that, tyvm, but he said he would send our military "into Mexico." Pretty sure sure their President is not on board with that approach.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a president who got a little tough with the president of Mexico and presented an ultimatum?
If they are not going to prevent the cartels from operating on THEIR borders, then we need to take action.
Our current geriatric oval office resident has done ZERO to work with the Mexican president to stop the flow of migrants and drugs and hold them accountable.

False.

That was 5 months ago, How's it going?
Not well judging from the amount of fentanyl that is still coming into our country and the number of people dying of fentanyl poisoning.

Do you not know what “seizing” means?

Do you understand that the amount they seize is a FRACTION of what is coming across?

Narrator: They do not understand this.

Yes and Biden has been getting a bigger fraction than Trump. Thanks for playing.

You are painfully slow. It's been explained to you by other PPs that the reason for that is because illegal immigration has EXPLODED under Biden. More illegal immigrants = more seizures. School must have been really hard for you.

Trump did nothing about illegal immigration.

Trump made it clear that illegal immigrants would not be welcomed - unlike Joe, who encouraged them to come.

Christie I am convinced is there only to attack Trump and get Desantis elected. At least that was the original plan before Ron's popularity dropped.
Haley would be great.
I would love anyone besides the Trump and Biden rematch we will get

White men refused to support a white woman for POTUS, you know that are not supporting a brown, Indian woman. Just forget that they were both and still are more qualified than all the men they've competing against, past and present.

Good we need them. The country is being held back by lack of workers.
