They adopted their children.

At a certain point being with someone you know and trust esp older is worth forgiving any transgression and from an age perspective, you want to be with someone you're comfortable with. I mean there's love, settling but there's also realism. Decades with someone means something.

Maybe it's different if you have money and are a star but I doubt it. Unless either of them already have someone in hand, it will not make them happier to separate. I've seen so many in my family do it. They may think they were happier but on their dying day they realized it would have been a better road and helped them both to have been together. Relationships change.

But I also I guess never understood why people part after even 10-15 years or why you have kids with 2-3 different people. You really need to suck it up sometimes and be with the one you chose unless there was something really wrong with the relationship like abuse, cheating, etc I mean situations change their our life. It's sad commitments are broken so easily these days. And I speak as someone 44 not 60.

You seem to not be able to understand a lot of things. Maybe it’s because you are too fixed in believing your worldview is the right one and everyone who doesn’t agree is just making bad choices?

I can understand it. Not everyone needs the same degree of companionship you seem to need. For some of us, marriage is something we thought we needed to do, and made compromise after compromise to keep it going til the kids were adults. To enter a stage a life where you can finally live for yourself is incredibly freeing.

Which is why hardly any famous and successful people stay married. If you don’t have to constantly compromise, why do it?
Ans I don’t think the human species is very good at monogamy.

Because divorcing for the sake of sleeping around is selfish and terrible for your children and their formative ideas of family/stability?

I would agree with you if they were a regular family with regular jobs. But celebrities are barely around anyway, they were probably all rarely together. If it was long planned and amicable then they will probably make it a pleasant experience and life for the kids will only be like 20% different vs. if they had stayed married. (And for some PPs - yes grown up kids still do visit and rely on their parents and like to display their family for special occasions like graduations and weddings. They are not “launched” not gone forever)

Wow, Jackman’s wife could pass for his mother!

The man is in his 50s. His mother would be in her mid70s to 80s. 🙄

NP Due to unfortunately pale skin/genes and probably an unwillingness to get work done, she does look mid 70s. My mother is 65, just a little younger than her, and looks so so much better (because of genes not getting work done)

Gross where the speculation has gone. He hasn’t said anything. Many of you are rude.

Someone asked if he had bio kids. The response is accurate: he adopted.

Doesn’t mean he’s gay.

+1 Lots of assumptions that people who separate are "no better or worse" for it. And "forgiving any transgression"? Come on. These people may actually be happier, despite what PP assumes. NO ONE knows what it is really like inside a couples' relationship. If they decide to split, especially after a long time, there are definitely reasons behind it. Many times, it's because one or the other has taken a closer look at their mortality clock and realized they will not spend another single minute wasting it with a partner they are no longer compatible with.

You might be right, but I think we are in a different era, and not just of acceptance, but also sex in movies. There are no real sex scenes anymore. Jackman can continue in his semi-chaste leading man roles and as Wolverine with no problem. He might even be cast as a main gay lead.

Yes, like Tom Cruise.

And they helped change mindsets and laws in australia to make it easier for older people to adopt.

I wish them both all the very best .

And then they separated as soon as the youngest hit 18.
