This, and this is also why the chatter around certain heterosexual-presenting actors being "gay" is ultimately homophobic (especially when centered around actors people don't like). I have to assume the people who talk like this about celebs simply don't have any gay people in their lives. I have a lot of gay people in my life and while there is a lot of diversity in their personalities and the way they lead their lives, they all have one key thing in common -- they exclusively pursue sexual and romantic relationships with members of the same sex. That's it. Most of them have known they were gay since about high school, with the except of a few who realized it in college or after leaving very conservative, religious, or homophobic backgrounds. They are lawyers, doctors, high school teachers, artists, entrepreneurs, consultants, etc. None of them hide their sexual orientation at work. Most have experienced homophobia at some point and still experience it sometimes now, but generally feel welcomed and accepted in their communities. None of them would ever consider conducting decades long marriages to a member of the opposite sex, especially not marriages that produce kids, while *knowingly* being gay, because it's just... not necessary. You can get married and have kids as a gay person now. Or not, if you don't want to. Even if you are a celebrity or an actor. People just don't care that much, for the most part, and the people who DO care are also freaked out by straight women who stay single or don't have kids, or people who choose to live in cities, or people who don't subscribe to their specific religious beliefs. So basically the main contingent of homophobic people these days are people who hate all kinds of people for totally mundane things anyway, so even if you pretended to be straight to please them, they'd find something else to hate about you. Not worth it. It is believable that some percentage of Hollywood stars are bi or pansexual, and some of them probably choose to present as heterosexual because it's easier and more marketable to a wide audience. Heck, some of them may choose to present as simply gay for the same reasons. But that doesn't mean 90% of Hollywood is gay. Gay Hollywood actually looks a lot like gay people in law firms and government offices and your dentist or whatever. It's people like NPH, Colman Domingo, Jodie Foster, Jane Lynch, Ian McKellen, etc. There are many, many out gay people in Hollywood. No one really cares. |
Harvey swung both ways. Ben’s bestie was a Harvard twink. And Pitt’s Hollywood early start and elder “roommate” in his 20s is public record. |
You’re naive. Over 90% of male actors are down low gay/bi. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But it’s a fact and your 600 word screeds aren’t changing that fact. |
I mean if you combine that with decades of gay rumors then yes. Prime example is Leonardo DiCaprio |
How so? |
Grindr |
Deborra-Lee always struck me as a cool lady. But she has been so publicly nasty about Hugh and his new GF I just have lost all respect for her. She's a bottom-feeder. |
WTF? |
Agree….what in the actual F? Used to love Hugh and he was my major celeb crush until this…part of his appeal outside his talent was his devotion to her. Now he is just gross, another superficial pig. She has EVERY right to be PISSED and I’m rooting for her! Go Deb get your half and then half of his! Take it ALL!!! |
