Sanity Check - DH in Boxers

The posters on this thread are crazy. There’s nothing wrong with this - it covers everything and so many guys do it.

Exactly. This is the argument—they’re just shorts. They cover as much as most casual shorts with a shorter-side inseam.

Um, do you not know what boxers are? They have an open fly. All kinds of things poke out of that thing.

Yeah, anything with an open fly for either men or women is a no go in public of any sort.

You can buy boxers with buttons. Problem solved.

I have never ever encountered any man of sound mind who does this. At home in front of your wife, ok, maybe. Outside??? Hell no.

I'm a man and I've never seen a single man that didn't require mental hospitalization wearing boxers outside in public

Another guy and I agree with the 2nd PP. I did not see any guy wearing only boxers out in public that wasn't some homeless dude that probably should be institutionalized.

Um, no guys go to Home Depot in their underwear. Literally zero guys do that.

As long as the Johnson is secure and out of sight, I’m okay with on property maneuvers but the KFC run is pushing it, unless it’s the drive thru.

Hanging out in the house in boxers is bad? Who are you people?!?

It’s not the hill I’m drying on but I don’t like it. Your wife does not want to see your balls hanging out of your boxers when you shift on the couch. That’s like the biggest turnoff ever. And if you have daughter, they don’t want to see it either. If you live by yourself, have at it. If you are a gay man, you’ll have to ask your husband—maybe men don’t mind

I’ve been teaching my son that this is rude to the women in the house, so he puts on soccer shorts to come downstairs now. If you need to run to laundry room to grab clothes, that’s fine. We’ve all been there. I think anything else, please put on pants.

I agree with buying the husband athletic shorts. That cured my husband of wearing boxers around the house—he just wears the gym shorts now.

I wear both pretty much interchangeably around the house. They seem the same to me. I happen to wear boxers with a button fly so that isn’t a concern.

But this thread makes me think my nanny could think it’s weird. I’d honestly never thought about it, they’re full coverage shorts—not like briefs or even “boxer briefs”.

Setting aside the nanny thing, those of you who don’t let your male kids walk around their own house in boxers and a t-shirt? That seems really prudish.

And where are all the DCUM posters who pile on in threads about women (and teens!) having every right to “flaunt it” in public in micro shorts, sheer tops with no bra, etc.? Granted an old man’s hairy thighs arguably aren’t as objectively beautiful, but not sure why it’s more inappropriate than underage butt cheeks.

Your nanny is uncomfortable. Please put on athletic shorts. My husband wears boxers around the house occasionally but it’s usually just the weekend mornings in the summer. More often he has on athletic clothes in the house.

My teen soon loves being in only boxers around the house, usually with no shirt on. We remind him to put on actual clothes if our daughter’s friends are coming over. He only wears clothes more now because he’s driving and doesn’t do that without clothes. He wouldn’t care about being in the yard in only boxers. We constantly tell him to put on clothes. - Vienna

But why not buy, and wear, real shorts? Even with buttons, boxers are made of thin fabric and are very loose. Sit or bend over the wrong way, and people are seeing you in a way that is it the least bit flattering to you. Why take that risk?

Honestly I would think your DH is off on some way. Creeper behavior for sure.

I’m talking about things like going out to get the mail, mowing the grass or working on a car in the driveway. Barbecuing. Maybe doing a short errand like driving to KFC or the hardware store.

Unacceptable.
