How many of you who are arguing that boxers are fine out of the house are thinking boxer briefs instead of boxers.

Boxer briefs are more like yoga pants or leggings. They are elastic and closed and stay closed as you move. Boxers are intentionally loose fitting. The fly opens or gaps periodically and the legs are wide and loos, so when you sit down and move your legs, the contents are frequently displayed. They are very different.

It would be less revealing to wear boxer briefs and they might be mistaken for biker pants, but boxers are really different and a no go outside of the home or with anyone not in your immediate family around.

i just dont see what the big deal is if you go out in either boxers or boxer briefs. you are covering uourself.

Your DH may be suffering from depression.

You don’t think boxer shorts are acceptable on a 5 year old outside the house? Wow.

With boxers, you are covering yourself most of the time. There are times you move around and the fly will open or if you sit down, you expose the family jewels out the leg holes. Boxers are not fully covered and that is the problem.

Different PP but no. I don't think 5 years olds should leave the house in underwear. I also don't think toddlers dressed in just diapers (especially if they are sagging) are cute either.

Listen, boxers have a slit so men can pee out them. Sometimes men’s junk slips out. Post as many leggings and bra pictures as you want. It’s not the same as someone wearing boxers at the hardware store sexually harassing people as their junk spills out.

Right, how do people not realize this?

Um, no. Your kid needs to be dressed to go places. It's all part of teaching them how to live in the world. I think the word for it is parenting. There are things you do at home and things you do outside of the home.

This thread has really been good for understanding just how much societal norms have eroded, as well as how lost men are. My DH does not wear his underwear outside of the bedroom, and my brother, father, FIL, etc. are the same way. Our children wear clothing inside and outside of the house as well (they are teens). Leggings and biker shorts are clothing and are acceptable in many instances (not a corporate office, e.g., but ok at the park). Underpants on anyone are not. This has been the case for a long time and is not controversial.

Exactly. I saw a woman on the subway in NYC this summer with her breast literally falling out of a very loose bra. She appeared to be mentally ill.

Agree.

This 'argument' is not about physical coverage IMO.

It is about having dignity for yourself and those around you. Don't go outside in your underwear and ideally don't walk around in your house in just underwear unless it is just you and your partner and it is early morning or late at night.

Anything else is just poor manners and breeding.

Exactly. This is the argument—they’re just shorts. They cover as much as most casual shorts with a shorter-side inseam.

Um, do you not know what boxers are? They have an open fly. All kinds of things poke out of that thing.

Yeah, anything with an open fly for either men or women is a no go in public of any sort.

Um boxer briefs and thong/g string undies are a no go as well for men, and skid mark undies for both are not ok

How is this a question? It is underwear and it should not be worn as the only item in public. It goes under things.

Not acceptable at all.

He must have nothing to show.
