A significant portion of people are in this camp - or waste time or do other things during the day and then complain about "working all night" guys in my office are constantly in the hall talking about the Nats all day instead of billing |
I agree that it sucks, but I think there is also some amount of playing it up. For me it sucked more because of the stress and intense personalities I had to deal with than the hours. I don't think it's as hard as someone said to get another job, though, at least if you're coming from a reasonably prestigious firm. My fed agency is full of ex-Big Law people, lots of them parents who made the switch for the lifestyle benefits. I think the people who say that it's hard might only be willing to take more senior/director-type jobs (i.e., unwilling to come in as a line attorney and work their way up) |
