Is 2024 about trans/crime/dei vs abortion and book banning type of issues?

It will now head to the Senate. They should vote to protect women's sports - if Schumer allows a vote.
Biden has said he will veto it.
And, to add insult to injury - Biden plans to alter Title IX to allow people to compete on sports teams that align with their gender identity.

Don't tell us that Democrats support women. They don't.

You are trying so hard to make this issue happen but there is no way a few trans athletes are going to distract from overturning roe. That was an utter disaster and we all know it and are going to vote accordingly. But you keep posting all your woke or anti woke or ultra woke or bespoke woke garbage as nauseum if you must.

We know how we are voting and it is pro choice and it is important. You should join us because it is important for everyone, not just Dems.

DP. Yes, Title IX is dead. Abortion is the issue that will decide the upcoming elections. And a side effect, intended or unintended, is the end of Title IX.

This should please all feminists. /s
It's been a good 51 years for women. Too bad this administration wants to end it all.
This is as anti-woman as you can get.

Shut up already. Don't you have your OMG JK Rowling was the victim of a WITCH HUNT thread to go be an idiot on.

Shut up about the end of Title IX?

If that's the tradeoff for abortion rights and gun control, as a moderate, I'll take it. But not happily.

NP. I believe this is where we are. We will get abortion rights and gun control, but at the cost of women’s safety, Title 9, and things like women’s scholarships, STEM advancement for girls, etc. That’s the choice.

I don't think we're getting gun control regardless. The best case is banning a class of guns that manufactures will easily design around. That means abortion vs title IX and I'm split

Abortion is absolutely critical and the voters will vote accordingly. We see that you are desperately trying to cry and cry about trans people bringing down the world but we see that are full of bull crap. If you don't want to accommodate the fact that the country is overwhelmingly pro choice and run some candidates that can win on this issue, you will lose elections. That is what elections are for.

Why do you assume that I'm a republican? I'm prochoice and blame an absolutely ineffectual democratic senate for doing nothing about abortion legislation or the supreme court when they had the chance. I think the republicans caught the car and are panicking and maybe democrats see that and will be careful not to follow suit, after all a conservative court and multiple states with bans is a good way to keep donations flowing

Doesn't matter what you are. The big fight is going to be about abortion rights. We get that that is not your fight but that will be the main event regardless.

The big fight is going to be the economy just like it always is.

I can’t tell if you’re serious. What you’re saying here is abortion access for 51% of the population vs a handful of trans women in women’s sports. I’m going to go ahead and assume the people claiming title IX is gone are trolling. It’s a micro issue vs a mega issue. Even if every trans girl in high school sports took a scholarship going into college, the numbers are tiny. Most states have 1 or 2 trans girls in high schoolsports in the entire state. Many states have zero. There’s a reason the right keeps talking about Lia Thomas even though she hasn’t been in college swimming in nearly a year. It’s because there just aren’t that many people. It’s just being blown up to look like an enormous issue.

Correction. There is a desperate attempt to blow it up into some kind of issue because the right knows they are so screwed in the next election because they effed with women's fundamental reporductive rights. They are going to do down over women's reproductive rights and there is no way out.

That’s a good point. If the choice is abortion rights versus Title IX and women’s safety, I am not sure where I fall.

Fwiw, speaking as a woman engineer, I don't think the need is there for those now. If anything, we need to start programs for boys. But we're not ready for that yet.

According to the attorney’s letter he was not part of the swim practice. He just showed up in the locker room.

Is was the economy until you took women’s rights to make their own decisions about when and if to start a family. But sure, keep believing abortion isn’t THE issue.

Ever heard of birth control? That used to be what Planned Parenthood was about.

The economy? Inflation is slowing, unemployment is still at record lows.

Oh no! The economy isn't in bad shape.

I really barely care about a trans girl being on my kid's sports team or in the locker room, and I don't really buy into trans ideology for the most part (I would be called a TERF by many trans people). I am much more concerned about the future with regards to her having reproductive autonomy.

Here is the thing: the Republicans don’t have to win on all issues to win elections. They just have to convince some traditional Democrat voters to stay home. It is how Youngkin won in VA.

The Democrat position of going all-in on gender ideology even at the expense of women’s and girls’ safety is a weak point for the Democrats. It may persuade some voters who might have been willing to vote for Democrats to stay home. If Democrats are supporting the ability of random 18-year-old transwomen to walk into a shower room with naked 14-year-old girls, they will lose votes, because that is objectively horrifying. It doesn’t matter how rare that happens, it’s still unacceptable.

Republicans don’t have to persuade people to vote for them to win. They just have to persuade some Democrats not to vote. It doesn’t take much in tight areas.
Anonymous
They are on seriously losing ground where it comes to abortion. Kansas and their fail in the 2022 election should make that obvious.

The fact that the right wing's attempt to cancel Bud Lite failed utterly should be a signal to the GOP that they need to move on from trans/DEI.

These are not winning propositions for the GOP and they should move off of them.

With crime, they might be more believable, but again, what have they actually done or proposed that would help in any way? Gun violence has gotten worse, Republicans have done absolutely nothing in terms of responsible policy and in fact are encouraging citizens to go even more wild west, and now we're seeing people getting senselessly shot over the most mundane kinds of things.

GOP strategists should realize that they don't need to kowtow to the NRA and that they should consider that an overwhelming majority of Americans do in fact want sensible gun reforms. They can do that AND propose means of dealing with crime and come out ahead.

I have radical views on abortion access as I support free & geographically close access to abortion up until birth.
