Is 2024 about trans/crime/dei vs abortion and book banning type of issues?

Rich people and those who already own a home have been mostly insulated from this.

Do you think that recessions are enjoyable for middle and working class households? The bottom earners are finally making some headway due to labor shortages, but that will be the first casualty of any increase in unemployment

Recessions come and go. Abortion is a lifetime.

Republicans got what they wanted with RvW. Now they're losing. Everywhere.

Abortion matters less if your worried about whether or not you'll have a job in 6 months or if you're watching your nest egg shrink every quarter

You can argue all you want but abortion is THE ISSUE. Republicans didn't have to go there, but they did. Now they'll see the results.

Spoken by someone who has never had to worry about employment before.

The right wing traditional conservative economists all admit that the US is basically at full employment right now. So yes, lets make that a central campaign issue. And let's compare the 2023-2024 employment stats to when Trump left office, or when either of the Bush's left office.

I personally don't care, except for two observations:

1.) trans people, as with anyone else using medical alterations such as steroids, should not be allowed into competitive sports

2.) public bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms should have separate stalls, locking floor to ceiling doors for privacy in the first place regardless of it's all women or not.

How much will it cost schools to implement this? Wouldn't that money be better spent on education?

The GOP hates education. They prefer to funnel money to churches and private equity via charters and private schools. And they attack teachers unions and push for wasting money on stupid crap like making all school windows bulletproof to withstand war guns. Cause that’s affordable and a sane use of money.

No one group caused the death spiral of public education than democrats that refused to open schools during the pandemic. Don’t ever forget that, because most parents never will.

My FCPS students were attending pretend school long after their cousins in both red and blue states were back in the classroom. I blame the democrats on our school board and the democrats at the state level who let them get away with it. For anyone saying that it isn't an issue

Unless you have a time machine, that is not going to get fixed.

A slowing in the economy is not a recession, even if it meets the technical definition, when we need to recover from the problems cause by the huge spike in the economy. Why don’t people understand this? It needs to dip to stop all the bad things that come with a rapidly growing economy.

Also, I am middle/working class. Don’t speak for us.

Abortion access gun control & environmental protection are my absolute #1 issues

I basically do not care one way or another what happens on 99% of other issues

Vote however you feel comfortable, but that was 2 years ago.

+1 Although for some voters I believe abortion will be a huge issue. A majority of Americans want women to have access to safe abortions but with some restrictions.

If Republicans were truly worried about crime then they would strengthen gun control laws and allow abortion. Legal abortion in this country caused crime rates to decline anywhere from 20% to 45% from the early 90s.

I have two daughters and this is absolutely my number one issue followed closely by gun control and environmental concerns.

Obviously we'll have to see! But the latest rounds of elections suggest that abortion is a very important issue to voters, whether you want it to be or not.

And the GOP wants no access and no exceptions.

Roe was the law the land, the GOP chipped away at it for decades until it destroyed it. The Dems simply want to restore it; it was a reasonable compromise.

Vote accordingly.

Being that the supreme court is conservative, is the trans issue really an issue in terms of laws? I assume it won't get too crazy with allowances simply because the supreme court is conservative. I think most people are against trans people being classified in the same way biological sex is and they are against kids getting surgeries before 18. They are for everyone feeling safe from harm.
