Why do the rich vote Democrat?

Anonymous
Rich people know democracy is good for business. Fascism, not so much.

We are only as strong as our weakest links.

This democrats know for sure. So if we raise those below us to ease their suffering, we all gain from it. This comes in forms of stable communities, lower crime rates and higher quality of life.

In other words: the rich know how to get richer. And voting democrat does it.

Because the GOP has too many racist, misogynist, religious extremists, and anti-science conspiracy theorists in it. And as another person stated, the really wealthy do just fine under either party.

I know it’s hard for you to understand, but there are people who believe in paying taxes because we understand the importance of infrastructure, social safety nets, national security, scientific progress, environmental cleanup, and other benefits from taxes. Individual, private philanthropy cannot tackle hunger, poverty, education needs, big health concerns, or climate change alone. Not by a long shot. The biggest reductions in poverty in this country were a result of government action—taxpayer dollars at work. And how does the minimum wage ever rise? Through Democrats.

I’m probably not the wealthy demographic you are thinking of (330k HHI, live in PG county, sent my kids to public schools). I grew up poor so I consider myself rich in comparison to where I came from. I see nothing offered by the GOP that appeals to me. NOTHING.

+1. This is exactly right. The only benefit the GOP offers to me is lower taxes, and I don’t see that as a benefit. Everyone, including me, should be paying their fair share of taxes. Taxes are why we have a functioning country.

Agree completely. The idiots on the right who want no taxes and barely any government don't get it.

Why do people with few resources vote conservatively? As you suggest, liberal policies generally favor the disadvantaged.

Because they value their freedom? Because they know they can do it themselves? Because they don’t want to live on the government teat?

Being forced to give birth is the opposite of freedom.

No one is being forced. Abortion simply went back to the states. Oh, the drama!

Where certain states are now forcing girls and women, some of whom were raped, to forced births. Why do you ignore this fact?

Please give me a list, with names, of girls and women who cannot get abortions anywhere in the country.

if you want gynecological lists of women and girls, ask Ron Desantis.

I’m asking people here. Surely there should be thousands by now!

What makes you think that every woman who had a problem getting an abortion published her story?

Are you saying it's reasonable for women to have to travel fo other states to receive this care? How are they supposed to afford that? Time off, hotels, waiting periods, plus the cost of the procedure?

And here's a whole collection! https://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/issues/abortion/federal-and-state-bans-and-restrictions-abortion/20-week-bans/personal-stories-reveal-how-20-week-abortion-bans-would-hurt-wom

1) Elizabeth was released from the hospital. Off they go to another nearby state that allowed abortion. She was not in dire straits. She just wanted one.

2) Amanda could have driven with her husband the 8 hours to another state. They chose not to.

3) Marlena was giving the pill. She chose not to go that route.

4) Tara could have gone to another state. She tried Michigan. Go to CO or CA. She had time.

5) Don’t hand me planned parenthood stories and expect they won’t be biased.

It's preposterous that people have to travel out of state to obtain a medical procedure. If it was anything other than this, would be howling about the broken government run health system.

I get debating whether abortion is right or wrong. But this? Arguing that access is good enough? That's ridiculous. This is by no means a reasonable standard of medical care.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Income correlates strongly with educational attainment, and educational attainment correlates strongly with party affiliation. Biden won those with a college degree by over 20 percentage points in 2020. Democrats control 77% of the highest-educated Congressional districts. Republicans dominate the Congressional districts with the lowest educational attainment.

The Republican party is increasingly attractive only to the uneducated, for fairly obvious reasons.

Wealthy democrats are so dumb, they vote against their own best interests.

What interests are those?

A clean environment is in my own interests. Good, safe infrastructure is in my own interests. A solid social safety net that helps my fellow citizens is in my own interests. Not fearing that some crazy gun nut is traipsing around tye mall with his weapons is in my own interests. Being able to get an abortion, my daughters being able to get an abortion, without having to drive to another state is in my own interests. And guess what, I like having cultural organizations and events funded by ny tax dollars.

Republicans assume everyone is like them, caring only about amassing the highest bank accounts. Money is their idol.

The republican party initially lost me in the fight against gay marriage and buried their chances for life with Trump. The latest rounds of misogyny and general crazy are flowers on the gravesite.

There are things more important than lowering my tax bill. It's not dumb to want things other than money, especially when I already have all the money I need.

Besides, if you really cared about money so much, we wouldn't spend nearly a trillion dollars a year on defense. We are a country bounded by two oceans and two allies. We are currently kicking Russia's ass for the discount price of $42 billion.

I can't vote Republican after the attack on the capitol. You have the Speaker of the House hugging a QAnon conspiracy theorist who says she would have run the attack better. They are literally (and I'm using that term correctly) embracing this sh*t.
