You can fault her about a lot of things and rightfully so. But no one can faulted her for not genuinely believing what she says.

Even if she sounds* silly and dumb? Which is a lot of the time. -Kristin's neighbor

Girl I feel for you. I’m a fellow Woodmoron and I wanted so bad to steal all her campaign signs. I was literally gleeful when someone else actually did it. I can’t believe you have to deal with her as a neighbor!

There is literally nothing that distinguishes her in that social media post than any other councilmember. They are all stereotypical TPSS Twitter progressives. For better or for worse.

She spells "folks" with an x on the end. Does that make it more gender inclusive? JFC. https://twitter.com/KristinMink_/status/1624500376647999492

interesting tweet. that person Carlean is not on the council staff. so I'm puzzled how they are her public safety policy director. I think Kristin just hasn't figured out how to transition from activist to legislator yet

This is a common challenge for many, to be honest.

My issue with Mink is the ways in which she weaponizes her intersecting identities depending on the context. It's pretty cynical, and bothersome in the way that Extremely Online activists often find ways to dodge responsibility for their own actions by using the "correct" terminology.

So, if we take an example of the video in which she confronts Scott Pruitt, conveniently with someone filming nearby. Instead of using normal avenues for engaging in the democratic process, she engages him in public and while holding a small child. She understand the power/perception issues here, and weaponizes her identity as a mother to ensure that Pruitt remain on his back foot. Now, I think Pruitt is a terrible person and wildly unqualified for the job to which he was appointed, but I also think that Mink was incredibly cynical and calculating in how she set up this "spontaneous" engagement.

Similarly, and perhaps even more cynically, the most recent incident. So, you have Mink laying pretty heavy and unsubstantiated claims about police brutality in Montgomery County, but the moment she herself is in trouble, it's all "I'm a woman alone on the street. It's getting late out here....." Basically, she is using her identity as a woman to claim to need protection, even against the very law enforcement body she previously accused of violating the rights of BIPOC.

It's just all so calculating, and transparent, and I'll be shocked if she gets another term because no one wants to be embarrassed by their council member.

I agree with all of the above, but I think she is a heavy favorite for another term.

Incumbency advantage is huge in moco, and she seems to have a progressive block now and has her very online fans.

She definitely uses her children as shields. If you saw the video of her protesting transgender rights she is wearing her baby and she went to the stage where she is not permitted and would not listen to a security guard try to escort her off. By always having her children as shields, it gives her an immunity to act without being acted upon. I really dislike how she uses her children. It really bothers me.

That’s not our neighborhood. That’s across 29.

Exactly. It shows really poor decision making skills. Who needs that in a councilmember?

She is. But there are 4 neighborhoods in 4 corners. That is a different neighborhood than Woodmoor.

Did she ask police to turn off body camera when she had the flat tire issue?

I watched the public safety meeting this morning. I haven't been a great fan of hers, but I think she asked some good questions. On point. Part of this is just that she's brand new.

I missed it, but am interested. What questions did she ask?

She is brand new. That’s why she should be visiting districts, doing ride-alongs, attending the citizen’s academy, and doing everything else possible to be informed about policing in the county.

PP, do you have anything else to say, or just this one thing repeated at every opportunity?

Is there a reason I shouldn’t bring this up? What’s wrong with wanting Mink to learn about public safety before she comments on it or tries to change it though legislation?

There’s only one correct response to this, and this is “yes, she should do her research.” Your annoyance at my point here makes me wonder if you actually can find some reason to disagree?
