Yes, there are much better opportunities for an advanced learner at RM. |
+1 and how exactly would one find out the avg IB SAT test score? I don't think they publish that. |
It is published, but as mentioned this includes at least 30% of RM kids in IB https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/schools/high-schools/r-w/rmhs/ib/2021-2022-ib-insert-9.30.21.docx.pdf |
Vaping and drugs are a large concern at Wootton too. It’s not pills as someone else mentioned. |
All that info is public. |
My kid goes to Wootton and are not scared of the bathrooms and says she rarely sees any vaping on the school grounds. Definitely no drug deals going on. Those RM threads with the kids absolutely scared to death, holding it in all day, and getting threatened in the bathroom would be a huge concern for me as a parent. |
Only if you apply into IB. Wootton actually has more AP offerings than RM |
I hear you. The pricing in the greater DC area is out of control. Having said this.: You might want to rethink what really matters in a particular home. And I’d rather a small home, or townhome, or even an older home in the Whitman district for sure that something lavish in the Wooton district. (Zero chance I would send my child to RM .) |
Perhaps, but the W's also have a history of racially motivated hate incidents that recur regularly. |
I don't know what you think that proves. The question was performance of non IB RM students vs IB students, not where those students are from. Not that I believe your 25% number (but that's a different story). |
| Very few non IB kids join IB program in 11th grade. Kids are not stupid. It's like jumping onto a moving train. |
OP's kid would be in regular RM though. |
You never know. When they get to 11th grade they could change their minds and its an wonderful option to have. |
IDK... I know it's possible but extremely difficult in real life. IB kids are "harden" by they reach 11th grade. My kids (and other pre IB kids) already had 4-5 AP exams by the time they reached 11th grade. Can they join in 11th grade? Yes. Do many kids join? No. Can new kids keep up?? |
I have two kids at RM -- pre and post pandemic, and neither of have ever stated that they were threatened, ever, and they are small for their age. |
