Not just slogan, it is now policy. |
Then you admit this is a left wing nut cesspool? |
The point is that you have created a forum that for the most part is insightful, outstanding, and of value. It is entertaining & interesting, and provides value especially the school threads and relationships threads. I know you will not let it become the bizarre and disgusting Fairfax Underground forum, and kudos for you to moderate for that, but healthy and non-slanted debate adds to overall the credibility. Its a trees forest issue I'm asking you to consider. My analogy would be the old ridiculous Hannity and Colmes " debate " show where Colmes was the sitting duck because no reasonable argument he could have brought forward was edited and not allowed. And the show was disingenuously designed that way. Don't be that guy. |
How ironic is it that fox news is carrying about twitter and is it biased to the left or right whatever? Fox of all places. |
Never change, Republicans, never change.
(Just kidding. The country and world would be far better places if you collectively developed any of the values you profess to uphold). |
I think the point you’re missing is that unmoderated websites soon turn into far right, racist cesspools. |
The purpose of my response was to point out the always us/ them diatribe. The world is grey and there is good/ bad/ &'hypocrisy on both DNC & RNC sides. Two sides of same coin in a lot of cases. |
The problem here is that you are addressing a subjective topic: where is the proper line for moderation. The problem with subjective topics is that there is a tendency to believe that anything more or less extreme than your own position is wrong. So, you are perfectly happy with moderation as long as it meets your preferences for moderation. Less moderation would be bizarre and disgusting. More moderation is disingenuous. Life would be perfect if I precisely adhered to your preferences. However, other posters have different preferences. Many of them likely think your preferences are bizarre and disgusting while others think they are disingenuous. Obviously, it's impossible to please everyone. I don't actually follow my own preferences, but rather what I feel is desired by our community at large, as best as that can be determined. Continually disrupting other threads because I don't behave as you would wish is not the solution for you. |
BoTh SiDeS Republicans seem bummed that not only did “Twittergate” have all the impact of a fart outside, it outed the fact that Trump was stifling people’s first amendment rights. |
I agree with the bolded and do see that in your moderation. The problem I see in catering to the community at large, is it brings about an abusive situation - it’s seen in the politics, relationships, college, and even the elderly forum! The truly nasty get emboldened, while often good news stories and updates to them, get deleted, further putting people into echo chambers. A great example of this is a person on the elderly forum who gets their kicks out of telling people how horrible they are for not allowing the elderly to have their own way. It’s got to be someone young, or someone who has never dealt with a truly abusive or completely disabled individual who, for their own safety and the safety of loved ones, cannot stay in their own home. And then there are the ones on the relationship forum who relish in telling people how horrible they are. Ditto the parenting forum, the college forum, etc. Treating people and posts as a collective and not as individual leads to really bad behavior |
| Oh lord Jeff. You have the patience of a saint. I hope this thread demonstrates the principle that republicans consistently fail to grasp: freedom under the first amendment means people (who own websites sometimes) get to publish (or not publish) what we they want, for whatever reasons they want, subject to very few limitations. Cry more cons. |
I think there are several examples that many others have pointed out of reasonable conservative points that have been removed and insulting and abusive leftist posts that remain. Certainly you do not believe that all conservatives are bad and all on the left/ liberal side are virtuous do you? I take away from your statement "feel is desired by the community at large" that you believe they are progressive. You do them no favors by eliminating "have you considered this?" posts with different viewpoints. It just becomes a left slanted echo chamber that feeds the anger and division amongst us. That is the forest I am speaking of. |
Google and other ad sites determine what Jeff can and can’t leave on the forum. |
And? That’s the free market at work, baby! |
Are you saying then that you believe this site should only have progressive view points? |
