Good Lord! The OP asked a simple question that indicated to me that she might be on the fence about what she wants to do going forward and people like you read it as her attacking you and all women? Also, she didn't ask dads because she wasn't trying to win the politically correct contest, she was trying to find out what motivated other women to work rather than stay home with kids, which for many is a huge decision not made lightly. Based on many comments on this thread I think one might conclude that working outside the home turns you into a nasty, sarcastic, defensive shrew who can't even just explain her decision without insults and vitriol. |
Same ending, different story - because my mom was a SAHM and even though she loved it and was the best mom ever, she wanted more for me. |
And I see the opposite. Honestly. |
Same! It worked out great for her and she was an amazing mom. But she didn't do that to continue the cycle. My sister and I both work and our mother is exceedingly proud of our accomplishments. |
This is a silly argument. WOHMS use other WOHMs too. Nannies, daycare providers, housekeepers, tutors,.etc. |
| Because the world needs me and I couldn’t say no to the world. |
| Because I know from experience that Dads can suddenly and unexpectedly die and then mom ends up scrambling and then not only did you lose Dad but you lose your home too. |
|
Because I'm a Boss B%$#@.
I make make money moves. |
| Bc I’m good at work and they pay me a lot of money. Why not ask my husband why he works? |
+1 |
You win the thread PP!! Thanks for the great post.
|
| I really hate this question. Because I want my kids to eat, have a roof over their heads, and clothes on their backs. Why on earth does anyone work? |
But WOHMs don’t judge and trash other WOHMs!! That’s the difference! |
No, the OP is a pot-stirring troll. Don't be daft. Your last line indicates you are, too. Working women are tired of having to defend themselves. The very fact that you think it is normal for a new mom to ask these questions BUT NOT a new dad is part of the problem. |
A roof over our heads. Food Clothes Entertainment Toys Car Medical Insurance Life insurance Birthday parties Christmas present No trust fund Our parents did not leave us millions of Dollars Using my education and brain It is alarming that you have no functioning brain but still take care of children. |
