Bob Saget died

I remember somebody posting in DCUM once about a child who fell off the bed and died. It was not a small child either.

Yeah, head injuries are very weird and unpredictable. There’s that designer on Instagram whose daughter fell off a very slow moving golf cart and hit her head, suffering a traumatic brain injury. She’s now profoundly disabled.

Reminds me of Natasha Richardson. Freak accident.

Except Natasha had a skiing accident. What did he hit the back of his head on? Something in the bathroom?

I wonder if he was taking blood thinners.

Don't know but bruise on the back of the head. Article says it might even have been the headboard.

I don't believe it. I just don't.

You think they're lying to keep up his image after death?

Yes I actually do.

He may have dropped something in the bathroom and bumped it on the counter while starting to stand up.

My dad got up in the middle of the night once, had a Vasovagal syncope, fell. Was confused, got up, again had a Vasovagal syncope and then fell and was physically injured in some way. I can't remember those details.

Head trauma are so unpredictable. Too many people have died because they bumped their head thought nothing of it and then died or became disabled. It doesn’t even have to be a hard blow to the head.

Anonymous wrote:Yes it sounds strange to me too. How can you hit your head that hard on the headboard? (Someone pushes you?)

He could have just tripped. My friend posted on FB that her dad slipped on ice and hit his head, refused to go to the doctor, then two days later, he couldn’t keep his balance. Her mom took him to the ER and blood was pooling between his brain and his skull - they had to cut a door into his skull to drain it off and repair the broken blood vessels.

This is far more common that you all realize, especially if you're older. Ask any neurosurgeon. I know someone who had this, but was taken to the ER in time. His main symptom was he was suddenly very confused, and trying to do something strange and completely out of the ordinary. Whatever head knock caused the brain bleed was so innocuous nobody took notice of the incident.

RIP, Saget.

I wonder if he was taking blood thinners.

+1. Just last Thursday, my aunt (who llived alone) slipped in her home, fell over backwards, and hit her head. She put ice on it and it seemed fine and she went to bed. When she woke in the morning, she felt woozy and unsteady and so called my cousin and told her what happened. My cousin called 911. By the time they got there, my aunt was unconscious and they had to break into the house. She had surgery, but because she was on blood thinners, we were told the chances of continued bleeding were high. She died on Saturday.

Very easy to imagine Bob Saget could have slipped in the bathroom and been ok for a while, gone to bed, and died in his sleep, even if he wasn't on blood thinners.

Me again-- meant to add that my aunt is the third person I know who died age 60+ of a seemingly mild head injury after a no-big-deal fall. It's not uncommon.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm the first poster above and that's what I meant about Natasha Richardson (although 45, not 60+). Some responses pointed out she was doing a dangerous sport, but she was a novice skier taking a beginner lesson, not speeding downhiil, and her fall and blow to the head seemed minor, which is why she refused medical attention at first.

Happened to my husband's cousin, who was in his early 30s. He hit his head on the corner of an overhead cabinet after stooping to pick something off the floor. Had a slight headache but didn't think much of it. Died in his sleep.

Two thoughts when I heard about this last night...
- A friend's brother died under really similar circumstances last year. He slipped on the ice, but didn't think it was a big deal. Came inside, sat down to watch some TV, fell asleep and never woke up. Friend said about a year earlier there was a random incident where he got knocked on the head - I think it was someone's suitcase on metro. Brain injury/concussion can be cumulative. Maybe Bob Saget had another incident that no one thought anything of previously... but the two added up to enough of an injury to kill him.
- This is like exactly the opposite situation as Billy Mays - remember him? He got knocked on the head on an airplane and died a few hours later. Everyone assumed it was a brain injury. Then the autopsy showed it was a heart attack and cocaine was a contributing factor.

I am on blood thinners and this is my constant worry that I will hit my head and have a clot in the brain. Poor Bod Saget.
