It's a fantastic college. Sorry you desperate strivers don't "get it." Not everyone is obsessed with the Ivy League or a sportball school that all of your dullard couch potato in-laws recognize. Sending your smart rich kid to Wash U means they have a good chance of becoming a doctor or marrying one. That's what it's all about; selective breeding, avoiding the sort of unwashed striver families who spam this forum all week arguing which "T10" will make them feel less insecure about their sh*tshack or townhome.

It is an odd position - solid school where everyone wanted to be somewhere else as a first choice

I bet two things: You’ve never stepped foot on WashU’s campus & you’ve never talked to a WashU graduate.

Sorry, but no one thinks that highly of WashU. I know all the angry flailing and desperate name-calling must take a lot of effort, but at the end of the day, it only serves to make people think even less of WashU. The diatribe above just makes the rest of us laugh at its absurdity. I actually laughed out loud.

At some point, the choice to apply to the "top 10" just isn't worth it. Why burn an ED on a total lottery when you can ED to what would have been an ED2 or match and be done with the process?

They don't want malcontent poors like you there. Take a hint. Their "brand" is rich, secure, and smart.

What a shithole university.

To compete with ivies, a lesser school like WashU would have to triple the amount of FA ivies are offering. No idiot will consider WashU for anything less than 3x.

Check out the thread on Brown offering full FA for families making less than $120,000/yr with no regard to home equity. WashU offers a family making $120,000 approximately $10,000-15,000 in grants.

WashU is for ivy rejects.

LOL. Ivy League grads go on to be more than just doctors - billionaires, presidents, astronauts, unicorn founders, actors/actresses, artists, award-winning writers, journalists, directors, you name it. I think you set the bar a little too low, dear.

WashU isn't even top 10 in medical school feeders.

I thought WashU's brand is "safety school"?

Washington University: Top Safety School Pick for Wealthy Ivy League Rejects

The local press doesn't lie, I mean... even though they wrote it in a tongue-in-cheek way, but the impression does carry some weight

Washington University ranks at No. 11 on the list of 22 schools. (Well, 21 schools. Wash U ranks only ten spots above "live at home, save some money, read miscellaneous interesting Reddit pages.")

I know several kids who chose WashU over Columbia or Chicago. It's more common than you think

I know many more who chose the latter... oh wait they didn’t even bother applying to WashU.

Classic WashU booster responding to her own thread. Truly delusional.
