My neighbors are getting a rescue pit bull

Just need to note, in passing, that this behavior is separation anxiety, not aggression. All dogs that get anxious when lonely can do this. Dogs can chew through doors and couches when they really want to.

But I agree with everyone that pit bulls, because of the way their jaw is built, have an extremely strong, unrelenting bite relative to their size, and cannot be trusted because one bite can mean death or permanent disfigurement. It's not the dog's fault that they are built this way - it's the humans' fault for breeding them. Yet this is how it is. There should be a breeding ban on all aggressive breeds.

Again with the BS jaw assertion??
A pit bull has the same cranial physiology as every other breed of dog -- their jaws cannot lock.

One of my friends rescued a “sweet” pit last year and it bit her 9 year old in the face the first week home. They immediately had it euthanized and it was all very upsetting.

PP didn’t make a “BS jaw assertion” about locking jaws. That was all you, “Pittie” defender.

I don’t care if it’s the jaws, the muscles, the aggression they’ve been bred to have or what, pit bulls are menace.

Pit bulls are like a car that works fine most of the time but accelerates to 100 miles without warning and won’t stop until it crashes.

Remember the pregnant French woman, Elisa Pilarski, who was devoured by her sweet pitt bull while walking him? The pitt bull loving community went up in arms defending the dog. He was so sweet, they were inseparable, he loved her so much. The swore it couldn't have been him. Until the DNA test revealed otherwise. The body was so damaged they initially thought a single dog could not have done this by himself. They should be banned here like they are in France. The pitt bull loving people have a psychological problem.

You don’t have to look outside the us to find stories of people killed by their own pit bulls. A woman in Columbia Maryland was killed a few years ago and I think around 20 small children have been mauled to death by pit bulls this year.

Ah well if the US won’t ban guns after multiple school shootings then there’s no way they’re banning pits. Love watching all of you pearl clutchers get bent out of shape over a pit mix though. Stay in your houses. It’s the only way you’ll be safe lol.

The above PP exemplifies what I am talking about when I say pit owner have issues."look at me, my dog is so dangerous but he loves me".

Anonymous wrote:Wow, way to assume the worst. Pit bulls have a bad rap. I wouldn't get one myself, because that's not the type of dog I'm into, but I've known several and they've all been total sweeties who just want love and someone to play with them.

You don’t need to relax. You are not crazy. Pit bulls should never have been allowed as a breed. They bite down and don’t let go. They were used to bait bulls. The whole thing is annoying and stupid. Your neighbors are trashy as is anyone who gets a pit bull. Especially a rescue pit! No one needs a pit bull. Now you have to watch your kids 24/7 because this wild mutt could bite down and crush their hands or what not. I don’t care what anyone else here says. They are trashy and stupid too if they don’t agree.

The same people who get pit bulls are the same people who don’t believe in vaccinations, think Dog the Bounty hunter is real, have excessive tattoos, and used to date abusive drug addicts. They don’t get that a pitbull is genetically a ticking time bomb. I’ve known nice pit bulls, but that doesn’t mean they won’t snap in a second and rip your fking arm off.

This is so true. My Australian Shepherd/Huskie mix chewed up our couch once when he was a puppy, he was so desolate at being left alone for a few hours.

That said, try hosting play dates at your house instead.

This says way more about you than about pit bulls, none of it flattering.

What is unflattering about being intelligent? You may choose to ignore the research and incidents involving pit bulls but that doesn't make the fact that these dogs are very dangerous go away.

Yeah, if many had the means to move when there are too many pit bulls in the neighborhood, they would move too.

In my last neighborhood I was walking my dog and saw a pitbull behind a fence in someone’s yard and the kids actually said “hey I bet my dog can beat up your dog”. I just looked at the children and said I am certain you are correct. I don’t let my dog fight. But that told me right there the mentality of those pitbull owners. And who knows, maybe that pitbull was taken away from that family and then put into the shelter and now is somebody else’s rescue. A ticking time bomb.

All you Pit bull apologists out there. you think you’re so open minded but you’re not thinking of people. You’re just thinking about the dogs. People always should come first.. especially children. The breed needs to just go away.

Just thinking about dogs… so accurate. These pit bull obsessed nuts don’t care about anyone or anything besides these dumb dogs. Not even their own children!
