Who really thinks that this BS calling for a FBI investigation will change anything.

So if the FBI clears him, then it will be we can’t vote for him cuz abortion, gun laws, etc.. it will then be another set off issues.

How exactly would the FBI “clear” him? Not turning up anything new would surprise no one, and wouldn’t mean that he has been proven innocent.

He's presumed innocent unless proven otherwise. And I know....I know....it's not a trial, but the same principle applies: you can't prove a negative.

SHE has to prove that he's guilty, not the other way around.

Huh? She does not have to prove anything. She just has to be truthful. Even Republicans found her credible.

She sounded emotional and compelling. However, the gaps, inconsistencies and lack of corroboration are overwhelming. She suffers the most traumatic event of her life and can't recall how she got home despite being stranded miles from home in the pre-cell phone age yet specifically remembers she had a single beer? Not credible.

Yes, this is how trauma works. Have you not been paying attention?!

Want to add: she remembers having one beer because this is why she didn't tell her parents. Boys and beer, these things are what make a young girl not want to tell her parents what happened.

She should've hid her yearbook then...

I was being told that I didn't understand how things work and that the FBI would never investigate this because the alleged assault didn't occur on federal property and neither the alleged victim or perpetrator were federal employees.

In fact, when I wrote this post which predicted exactly the type of hearing that was eventually held:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/753686.page

I was repeatedly told that I the FBI could not investigate and given a bunch of different reasons why not. I'm ashamed of my ignorance.

Actually you were called an idiot for stating essentially you thought the ends justified the means.

Yup. It's entirely possible this has turned my college-age kids into Republicans for this next vote. My daughter said flat out that the yearbook questioning was stupid - she could not believe grown adults were behaving that way.

I’ve been hearing that a lot.

Yes. My daughter said the same. Then she said, “and if I’m ever raped I won’t report it or tell you because I understand my role in this world now.”

I told her if she played her cards right she might one day get to marry a Supreme Court nominee like Brett! Fingers crossed!

well played!

I don't know who said the Coach K Alumnae earlier but that turned my stomach. Clever but sick. Sigh. He was really full of crap about that reference in his yearbook, wasn't he?

Correction , pay and/or find more false accusers willing to be a martar for liberalism

Evidence that Ford is a false accuser who was paid?

Likely was a reference to Swetnick, whose story crumbled within hours.

nope, her story is credible. The smear of her background that happened right away has already crumbled.

I know Swetnick. She mentioned she had horrible stories about mutual acquaintances in Chevy Chase...3 years ago to me.

Thank you for sticking up for her. I’m tired of the smear jobs.

I am so sorry for what happened to Swetnick. I believe her. I am so sorry. If you talk to her again, please tell her, REAL PEOPLE are sorry for what happened. And REAL PEOPLE admire her bravery.

You feel sorry for a woman who's ex took out a restraining order due to her threats? I don't.

If the court is already set the base wont care. It could mean the difference between keeping and losing the Senate. Its even riskier for the Republicans to put him on from a legal standpoint. Wouldn't it be better for the Republicans to let him go, retain the Senate and pick a more upstanding conservative jurist? Even if the Republicans still lost the Senate I don't think this group would have any reservations about appointing and confirming someone as lame ducks.

I don't get why they are digging in.

From a legal standpoint what happens if the FBI finds out that Brett Kavanaugh perjured himself in his testimony or enough people come forward making statements that he lied under oath? Is the Justice department required to prosecute him for perjury? Can a supreme court justice be sent to jail? What if the ABA disbars him? Can a sitting SJ remain on the court if he's been disbarred for perjuring himself during the nomination period?

Want to bet? We care about confirming him and this Democratic circus will turn us out in droves.

You sound scared.

I really think it’s dangerous for his mental stability if he doesn’t.

Oh FFS. He is perfectly stable and you know it.
Now if you want to talk about Dr Ford’s mental stability......

Yet I will not be surprised if Kavanaugh is being set up. The goal is to make an example of him, not because he's guilty, but to scare others from wanting to be a Trump appointee. I have honestly never seen anything like this and I am 57 years old. Even more surprising is the vacuousness of those that actually believe this horsecrap. Kavanaugh and Judge raped a woman in Rhode Island on a boat hits twitter and the freaking liberal lemmings run to that story. Then when it's proven to be untrue, they slink away, but are no wiser for it.

What a shame. The whole situation is an absolute disgrace to every victim of sexual assault and every persin wrongfully accused, yes it happens, I don't know if that's the case here or not. The Democrates have used Ford as a pawn in their political game, they don't care about her at all. There was no reason, not one, to not investigate this matter as soon as it was brought to their attention. Why wait, why parade this woman around like a circus side-show. She's unstable, she admitted as much in her testimony when she discussed having to go to therapy and the multiple break downs in college and after. How do you think she's holding up now, in a few months, in a few years? A disservice was done to every single woman who has been a victim. The message I took away was, it's only important to us when it's important to us. Where is the outrage at those responsible for not investing as soon as the allegation was made, for disclosing her identity against her wishes and for the subsequent shameful displays of opportunistic sympathy and support but only in front of the cameras where it counts. Have we had enough yet or will we continue to let this happen? Both parties have been irreparably harmed by this shameful display of dirty politics it's disgusting.

Are there any non-bots out there who actually believe everything he says?

I get that you think it's stupid to question him over what his page in the yearbook says. But do you actually believe his story for "renate alumni club" and ralphing not because of drinking but because he can't have tomato sauce on pasta and all the rest, or do you think he's justified in telling "white lies" because the questions are so stupid?

To the mom who knows Ms. Swetnick - FBI are asking people to come forward if they have information. Read it on twitter, said it was on MSNBC tonight.

Liberals will have gotten their week-long delay. But, we will be no further along.
And, in years to come, liberals will continue to bad-mouth Justice Kavanaugh, despite his impeccable judicial record because...
- they are liberals
- they don’t believe that “boofing” refers to flatulence or “Devil’s Triangle” is a drinking game
- they don’t really want the truth - they are secretly hoping for another allegation to come forward
- they are fearful of decisions on Roe vs. Wade
- we have the example of Justice Thomas. Despite an FBI investigation that found no evidence to the claims being made, he is still guilty. Because.....
- he isn’t liberal

It is patently transparent what the game is here. And, those of use disgusted with the crap the Democrats have pulled are growing in number by the day.

Yikes. What type of incriminating statements does your daughter have in her yearbook?

I don't know him. I don't want to get caught up in this mess. I have friends who are both Republican and Democratic and don't want to lose any. But I would tell them that her story was similar three years ago.

I believe you should contact the FBI, who is working on all *credible* allegations that have been made recently. It might change everything, since they may not have been considering this particular case to be credible. With your recollection of what she said, this might tip the balance. The FBI will not trot you out on TV.

Can anyone tell us if a witness's name is published during an FBI investigation?

I think you should contact the FBI as well. I think they do confidential statements. That is what was said *should* have happened with Dr. Ford. Graham and company were not willing to call in the FBI so that wasn't an option to her.

Really appreciate you making this effort. Good luck and hopefully all goes well with getting them the info they need.

The individual in question said there were no names mentioned. Enjoy wasting everyone's time.

when something first comes out there are TONS of people calling in crap. The tip lines get tons of calls.
You can tell the credible accusations because there are sworn statements (AKA evidence!) - doesn't mean someone is guilty but it is evidence.

You mean the one he filed to harass her that was then dismissed with no restraining order issued because he didn’t bother to show for the hearing?
