anyone have a baby born at 37 weeks? or 37 weeks and 4 days...think this one may be coming early and while 37 weeks is technically full term (and I know my ovulation date so it is accurate) it still concerns me that it is so early. Anyone have any issues with breastfeeding? thanks |
37w3d and DS did great! BF'd like a champ and went home right on time. He was tiny though...if you really think your baby is coming now, have family or friend go buy a few premie outfits.
CONGRATS! |
37 weeks 2 days. Not a problem. Definitely little, but his lungs were great and we came home from the hospital on time. |
no problems, very healthy, quick labor - 37 weeks |
My first came at 37 weeks and was almost 8 lbs, nursed well and was a very healthy kid. |
My first came at 36 weeks and only stayed one day in the NICU (after I was discharged). He was almost 8lbs at birth. Nursing was hard. I probably should have started pumping immediately after delivery. He was a sleepy guy. |
My second came at 37 weeks, 5 days - competely healthy, but she slept a ton the first couple of weeks, as much as 23 hours a day, and it was really, really hard to get her to wake up and nurse. She didn't have any growth problems, but I think my supply was low as a result. If I could do it again, I'd pump in between feedings those first first weeks, to increase supply. |
thanks! encouraging....it seems like everyone wants their babies to come out once they hit full term but i am the opposite - i want to keep it in as long as possible. my first was 38 weeks and 6 days so this seems a bit earlier to me. baby is measuring (via ultrasound) on the bigger side so that may be a plus... |
healthy but a little small (6/2). It did take a little longer than normal for my milk to come in and they had me pumping like crazy (which probably caused the oversupply I had later) but no health issues or anything. |
Yup, my first was 37w5d and he was barely under 8lbs. Everything was fine and I second the comments about pumping. I started pumping when I got home from the hospital since my milk didnt come in until about 5 days later.
Currently pregnant with #2 and while I am hoping for full term, I will be prepared to go anytime after 35 weeks this time, just in case. |
#2 came at 36w4d, weighed 6lbs10oz, and came right home with me. Had jaundice requiring a BilliBlanket at home but no other problems.
#3 came at 37w1d, weighed 7lbs, 6oz, and came right home with me. Had jaundice but not bad enough to even need the BilliBlanket! No problems at all. Good luck & congrats, OP! |
36w 4 d 4 weeks in the NICU, 1 week on the respirator, etc. BUT: I was induced. He was 7 lbs 4 oz though. In contrast my 38 w 2 d DC#2 came home with me 30 hours after I had given birth. ![]() |
My first was 37 weeks, 5 days, weighed 8lbs 3oz. We also knew the conception date because of travel schedules, so no chance that he was "older" than that. I'd echo what 12:50 said. He was awfully sleepy and didn't eat much, I had low supply, he was slow gaining back birth weight, and I pumped a lot between feedings starting in the second week. Breastfeeding went great after that, though. |
both of mine were born at 37w exactly. both were in excellent health and came home on time. first was tiny! 5lb 15oz, and had to spend a day or two at home under the billi blanket but otherwise fine. 2nd was 6lb 13 oz |
immediate PP here. yes, should have added that both were a bit sleepy for the first few days/weeks but both had no problems nursing and i had no problem with milk |
