People should be mad at their legislators for allowing it to get this way. This is not to say that insurers don’t have their problems but they are but one cog in the wheel of grift and dysfunction.

You're right, but people don't see, nor are they are directly impacted, by the things doctors do to pad their reimbursements.

Seriously? You’re complaining about a doctor earning $500K when they are actively saving lives and work 80 hours a week? You’re comparing their $500K to a CEO’s $10 million in earnings where they routinely deny people health coverage?

No doctors work 80 hours a week. Come on. Most barely work 35.

Apparently he road the bike through Central Park, then got a cab to the bus station and there is no footage of him leaving the station so it’s assumed he got in a bus and rode out of NYC shortly after.

Sounds like a lone wolf.

They were depressed. She had an amazing house boat and lifestyle.

You're sick. Leave the widow alone.

You have no idea. Many work very long hours plus weekends and holidays. Perhaps your dermatologist isn’t burning the midnight oil, but there a lot of specialists that work very very hard

Cardiologists actually provide an extremely valuable service. Insurance companies suck money out of the system. Do you really not see the difference?

Do you want to negotiate prices with all of your doctors on your own?

Yes, actually. I’d also like to know the cost of a procedure or visit up front, thanks.

Go for it. Say you're a cash patient and see what they want to charge you.

Well it doesn’t work as well within the confines of the existing insurance for profit system we have in place now, does it? Idiot.

Actually my primary care's office has an insurance submittal price and a negotiated cash/check at visit price. There are doctors that will negotiate if you want to pay cash.

Now do a procedure-oriented specialist. Or an MRI.

I had breast cancer and my insurance denied my doctor-ordered, standard of care yearly MRI. So I checked what the cash price would be. Sibley told me $6700. The whole thing was so disgusting.

An MRI cost $6,700.

Breast MRI with contrast is $850 for cash in Buffalo, NY. Many of these places there--they cater to Canadian patients.

DCUM posts are waaaaaay more restrained than what I’m seeing on Reddit, IG, Twitter and Bluesky. Vast majority of the internet is celebrating.

Yes, it’s horrific that a criminal got gunned down. He knew he was going to prison for a very long time.

But I live here. And Sibley basically was not willing to give me a real cash price if I didn’t have insurance coverage. $6700 is ridiculous. And my ins company denied the claim even though I had breast cancer and an MRI is the standard of care. I eventually got it worked out and went to Inova. But the whole thing was so stressful and awful. And I have to go through it again soon.

Are these greedy doctors trolling the victim? There’s a group who can probably afford a poorly trained hitman who wears designer clothing. One of their unemployed adult offspring maybe?
