I heard that Diaz homeschools. I also understand that she refused to obtain a covid vaccination, as needed, when she returned to Gaithersburg HS to teach after the pandemic eased. She refused to wear a mask, as required. Without notice, she stopped coming to school for 1st period because admin would check on her mask-wearing during 1st period. Diaz was given multiple chances to comply with health measures and she refused. Public schools must uphold public health measures. A responsible teacher shows up for the job. That she doesn't believe in these things disqualifies her for me.

Covid is still here. Are your teachers wearing masks now?
The greater message is that she called BS on the status quo that alot of people are tired of and that's why she got the votes

Teachers are following the school districts covid policy and have the option to wear masks. The point is that there is a process involving an MCPS medical professional, and CDC recommendations that drives the process for infectious diseases and vaccinations. Diaz refused to follow the processes. She is now gone from MCPS. "Calling BS on the status quo" is a vague statement.

Diaz is given to ranting. She is anti-Covid vaccine; likes homeschooling; and is a teacher who, with no notice, didn't always show up to teach at Gaithersburg HS. I don't see anything in this that points to a balanced person who will participate in sound policy making discussions and decisions on the Board of Education.

Specifically she got 18,956 out of 84,901 votes in the District 2 member race. Good luck to her!

It is sad that someone as irresponsible as Diaz received almost 19,000 votes. Fortunately, that represents only 22% of the votes and Diaz won't pick up many of the Smondrowkski voters. I think it very likely that Diaz will lose in November.

Is Diaz a former ESOL teacher at GHS? And her husband works at Forest Oak as security?

Nevermind. It's not who I was thinking about.

To be fair, the information about Diaz not showing up to her job as a public school teacher, and refusing to follow the school's protocol regarding masking, was not out there during the primaries. I pay very close attention to the BoE race, and this is absolutely new information.

Basically, I'd dismissed Diaz as kind of a hippie doing a farm school thing, but she's actually more dangerous than that.

Also to be fair at least 17,000 voters in this election were registered Republicans. I honestly can't relate to the voting behavior of anyone who votes Republican this day and age so them voting for a crazy person doesn't strike me as strange at all.

Moms4Liberty held a fundraiser for Diaz. She is part of that crowd.

Bravo to whatever combination of advocates produced this option!

I really don't understand why everyone doesn't vote by mail/drop box. It's so much easier. You can do it at your convenience, you can take your time to research candidates, you don't have to wait in line, etc.

Not secure - no one should be voting by mail except 100 year olds.

What's your evidence that it's not secure?

Well, for starters, our home received five ballots. Three of those people do not live here.

Evidence? You mean like proof? We don’t need that these days.

The evidence is that Trumpanzees are sore losers and refuse to watch or read real news. Facts are merely inconveniences while promoting their propaganda.

Common sense. You have no proof that vote by mail is secure. They mail ballots... mail is stolen all of the time. Anyone can fill one out. Yeah, it's illegal, but based on your lame arguments, you know that no one is actually checking. Care about your country - show up with an ID and prove it.

Not only is it sad it’s a show on how stupid some adults are in MOCO to not research who they voted for

Diaz is unfit for the BOE. Hopefully she loses.

We also had morons vote for Mandel . Ugh

Luckily Diaz is the only moms4liberty that made it through

The pessimist in me thinks she got so many votes bc she has a hispanic last name. And that uneducated voters checked the box next to her name for that reason.

Honestly, it’s racist and offensive when people say stuff like that. The worst thing is, is that they don’t realize they’re being racist and offensive. They claim to be progressive and woke, but in all reality they’re blind to their own prejudices and racism.
