and the daughter too.
Beyond sad.

Could they have been stuck down there and signaling (banging) and THEN imploded due to prolonged exposure to the depth?

I do understand the banging could be totally unrelated to the sub.

Communications stopped before the sub finished its descent.

I know, but apparently they've lost communication on prior trips and all turned out fine. Given how close the debris field is to the Titanic makes me think they did make it down there. Otherwise how likely is it it would have imploded closer to the surface and then drifted right to where the Titanic rests?

If it kept getting lost, then why didn't they put a beacon on it?

Yeah, but then no Instagrammable porthole selfies.

I hope they didn't suffer. Just because we found pieces does not mean death was qyick or easy.

I'm pretty sure implosion means it was quick.

And presumably not much left.

The implosion was instantaneous. Please read….anything. There are a million science-based sources that will explain why this is so. It’s not that hard.

I don’t think this has been address yet…
Do we know how close to the Titanic area the sub entered the water?
I’m curious when the implosion happened / where the sub would have been at that time.
I realize the suggestion is - but not proven - that the sun imploded when the comms stopped on Sunday.
Do we think the sub was close (vertically) to the Titanic when it imploded? Or maybe not even close but the sinking parts sunk straight to the bottom?

does this mean BBC is reporting this? confused

“ David Mearns, a rescue expert who knows two of the five men onboard, has received a WhatsApp message suggesting two crucial parts of the system have been detected - but the hull is yet to be found.”

I'm PP who said the end caps would float up - I wonder if the two crucial parts are the end caps?

The article says Landing frame and rear cover.

Press conference said end caps were found

I feel the most sorry for that luckless child.

A Titanic debris expert spoke at the press conference and said that the Titan's debris was found on the ocean's bottom in an area where there is no Titanic debris, so it was relatively easy to spot.

Unless it was one of those you’re 18, I can’t stop you households. But usually Pakistani households aren’t like that - though I guess only 1/2 Pakistani here.

Your comment reveals your hindsight bias. They almost certainly didn’t know how risky this was. We only know now due to the intense investigations related to the incident.

DP: It doesn’t take “hindsight” or “bias” or “intense investigations related to the incident “ to get that being sealed into a small container to go exploring a wreck — inherently unpredictable— with a limited supply of air, and few if any specific plans in the event of an emergency is way beyond what most people would view as “risky” — on multiple levels.

Life is all about risk/rewards. That’s what makes us humans different than our closest cousins the chimps. Without it, we are no different. Want a banana PP?

DP, but I’ll take my banana, since I didn’t make stupid, reckless choices and I’m alive to eat it.

Nice failed attempt at a “burn,” though. Very 7th grade.

People suffer in much worse ways every day all over the world. Why do you care about these particular people?

Myth busters filmed an episode on rapid decompression. You can find it on YouTube. It is pretty gross.

Interestingly, Jessi Combs was filling in for Kari Byron and tragically she lost her life trying to set the land speed record for a female a few years back.

Yes, but it was at 135psi or something. THis is many many times greater than that and would be even faster.

I didn't know we weren't supposed to care about some kinds of people.
