I love how GA not commenting on SY has driven the ECNL hats into a frenzy.

Yes, keep your own league in the dark on important changes in order to troll the other league whose clubs can be planning for the change. Brilliant!

My kid plays for a top GA club and nobody really cares if it's BY or SY. Even the jersey thing isnt an issue because all players in a grouping are assigned a number based on their alphabetical last name 0-99. They do this so players can move up/down without issue. At least for our club if a SY change is announced they'll probably give olders the option to stay with the current team or play down. The youngers will just be moved to a different team. Clubs will have over a year to make a couple of hours of decisions about who moves to which teams and who stays. GA not announcing anything is not an issue. And yes it is funny watching the ECNL parents go crazy about it.

Nobody cares? Or nobody is paying attention to it right now? They're going to care when teams start splitting up and those awesome Jan/Feb kids start getting replaced with Aug/Sept kids.

No, they really don't care.

If you want to play on a high level team its understood that your kid can be replaced at any time. Clubs condition this by holding tryouts each year. If you dont like the clubs decisions find another team to play on. Or, your kid can work on their play and get better.

What might be MOST interesting is if GA says it'll implement SY BUT after 2-3 more seasons at BY as a transition to players who have participated in BY their whole youth career. Then, they'll be there to pick up the talent left hung out to dry after ECNL puts together Aug-Dec dominant rosters.

Thats a good idea + it would drive the ECNL people crazy.

There is no link as this won’t be incorporated until 26/27. We will get those rules next summer. I think the league rules get posted in August?

No, it is driving me into a frenzy. U13 GA Q4 parent.

Unlike most of posters here claiming their kids are, my DD is not a "top" player and certainly not going to play D1 or pro. She will need all the help that she could get. If GA stays BY, I may just take her to a RL team.

That’s not a bad idea but eventually they would want a BY feeder system because eventually RAE gets kids to quit which is typically the younger players. Would only work for about 2-3 years then might be an issue.

But I am in favor of a By/Sy soccer ecosystem as it helps combat RAE and gives families more options for their kids.

My son is September 2012. I would take him to any league (I don't care ECNL, NPL, MLSNext ...) where he is the oldest.

Tired of playing against giraffe defenders born in January and February.

So welcome SY !!

What does this rule mean? That a kid can play in multiple ECNL games a day so long as it’s no more than 90 minutes?
