Jean-Gabriel, a retired French diplomat who runs a rustic inn, told the Daily Mail in January 2019: “My daughter Alizee is very happy with James, they are very much in love.”
“I know she is very happy,” he added. “We keep our fingers crossed for them.”
That’s just how Europeans talk. They are not effusive the way Americans are.
I thought it was sweet. Non-committal too. Better than what Eugenie's GMIL said about her own grandson
"I never thought he would get married to a royal. He's a charming boy and all that but not the most intelligent..."
Pictures of their wedding outfit released and its bad. I thought this was their next-day brunch get-up.
Hair with extremely old highlights, bad makeup, no guests, and a $10 dress. Why wait 2 years when they could have done this from the beginning?

His suit is so damn wrinkly. Like what the eff.
That and I was going to say something about the flower bouquet/corsage that looks like they snatched them from a 3-day old burial, but I wonder if they’re native wildflowers from the area. Either way they’re really dead looking.
You sound pathetic- wrinkly dress, dead looking flowers, bad highlights? They look happy and maybe it was *gasp* about love and being with the people they love rather than getting the perfect insta shot so some rando could be satisfied.
Again - why wait two years and postpone your wedding two times then?
They look low maintenance and wanted a chill, low maintenance wedding. They probably waited 2 years so that older relatives could get vaccinated and travel to the south of France. Plus, they had to work around the BRF's schedule - lots of coordination there and planning 6-12 months in advance. Further, the BRF likely didn't want to travel outside of the UK if there were lockdowns (bad optics). I feel for this couple because they were likely trying to hit a moving target when it came to getting members of the BRF to attend.
Their clothes are completely appropriate for a summertime wedding in the south of France. His suit is wrinkled because they were sitting during their civil ceremony hosted by the town mayor.
