Getting into St. Albans

Anybody else attend the welcome reception last night? Very impressed by the faculty and current students/parents who attended.

Yes, and i was likewise impressed. My son is so excited to go and I could not be happier for him.

PP,

Only negative was the spread. Why they wouldn't put out more food, drink and CUPS was really odd. It was packed, and everyone was parched.

What grade is your son?

Yes, lots of very nice parents, beautiful facilities, but where was the wine ? We are used to wine at Beauvoir. Perhaps not with kids in the room???

I hope this is a parody post. You really expected wine with 9 year old boys running around?

For 35K per year, I kind of expected a much more lavish spread.

Wine works at Beauvoir, where none of the children is older than 9. Not so much at a function with high-schoolers in the room.

I didn't care about the minimal food...it was a one-hour meet-and-greet. But I agree about the lack of cups! That's just lack of planning/attention to detail. Eventually someone rounded up some plastic coffee cups for the water.

If the new high school admittees can't keep it together for 2 hours, well then they should quickly be shown the door . . .

Now you tell me who has the guts to carry this out? You? STA?

Put your testosterone on ice.

After a six month long admissions process, yes, we should have been served something. kidding, but it would have been nice.

STA policy is not to serve alcoholic beverages at any event that the students attend.

I kind of love this thread. Starts with the happy post praising the substance (impressive faculty and current students) but the real interest turns out to be in criticizing the catering. Take solace, STA, if you are reading this -- it could be the converse: delicious food, unlimited cups, stupendous wines . . . but unimpressive teachers and students.

Well, we can be glad they're not burning the tuition money on hors d'ouvres and cocktails . . .
