Exactly.

How exactly does getting shot (in the ear, by the way, not the face) increase one’s qualifications to be president?

They truly do not comprehend that lots of normal people are turned off by Trump’s chaotic reaction to his attempted assassination.

There will be no real long run polling bump from this. It just further confirms your priors about Trump - his MAGA base will love him even more for it, the rest of the country will be turned by the chaos & violent rhetoric.

Vote like your life depends on it.

Your own silly apocalyptic tone is as bad as the MAGA base you criticize.

This country’s politics are sick. The actions yesterday was just the culmination of 10+ years of rhetoric like this:

Yesterday was “apocalyptic” because it will likely beget more violence.

So yes, vote like your life depends upon it.

My life doesn’t depend on whether Trump or Biden wins in November. Neither does yours. Touch grass.

You don’t think someone killed in public with a gun has their life affected by politics?

Biden is the current President, so wtf are you even talking about? Gotta vote for Biden so people aren’t shot?!?

Willful obtuseness will not save you.

So you don’t have a point and just want to be remind everyone that OUR LIVED ARE AT STAKE and if you vote for the other guy WE WILL ALL DIE but then want to criticize Trump for inflammatory rhetoric. Got it.

There is going to have to be a thorough investigation into how this was possible, when it sounds preventable . What's tragic is the people injured and killed due to that. Americans have been done a HUGE disservice.

I had to think for a second when I saw SS until I realized it was secret service but for a second I thought trump had his own SS as in Nazi SS.

Yes. Trump surrounded himself with all white SS. Not one Asian, Black, or non-white Hispanic on his detail. He tells you who he is with everything he does.

Maybe there is an element of volunteering to serve? Would not surprise me if there is some decision-making power on the part of the agents. And I can’t believe you’re making this about the race of his detail to begin with.

I can’t imagine Trump gets to pick who he wants.

He does. There are news articles about this. He applied his loyalty test.

The reality is most mass shootings (and those unrelated to interpersonal conflicts) are committed by white men.

Adding...white men who feel disenfranchised, are socially isolated, likely have mental health issues, like or use guns, and are suicidal.

He’s not gonna get sympathy votes. He’s gonna get votes from people that are rightly impressed that a 75+ year old man can get shot in the face and walk it off while pumping his fists.

Real man stuff. You probably don’t respect it or understand it. But there’s a big wide world outside of your suburban book club.

Why are we saying we want a “real man” to head our country?

Do you people aspire to live in a romance novel?

Do you even understand what this job entails?

In the real world people don’t care about politics, policy, or what “the job entails.” They vote based on emotion, optics, and “vibes.”

A lot of women hate Trump because of emotion, optics, and vibes, not because of their concern about Roe, the balance of the Supreme Court, etc. If Trump had Mitt Romney’s disposition and rhetoric and the SAME policies he would get probably 5-10% more votes amongst suburban white women and UMC suburban white guys with liberal arts post graduate degrees.

Likewise, this type of real man stuff, like taking a bullet to the face and walking off stage while pumping your fists, will gain him a sizeable portion of working class, Dem leaning but not committed, men who are just impressed that he did some objectively real man stuff. If you can’t get out of your cozy suburban bubble and realize that fact I don’t know what to tell you. The NFL is the highest rated show in TV by far. UFC fights are a thing. Men love this type of stuff, regardless of race. This is real primal, alpha pack animal showmanship right here. You might think you’re above it, but the average person, especially the average male, is in awe of what Trump did yesterday.

Do you have a citation for your claim?

The Act Blue donation was made by a Thomas Crook in Bethel Park, PA. That’s the zip code for the donation.

Source your claim.

Pp where is your citation that a man in Pittsburgh donated to Act Blue and not the shooter?

The Act Blue donation shows that your claim is a lie.

To me I think of those poor SS agents who literally have to get between him and the next bullet and he would rather have his moment than listen to them. It to me symbolizes his selfishness and how our systems enable him.

I am glad he’s ok. I am a for gun control and against violence of all kinds. But this event was a loss of life for at least one innocent person and the reason it wasn’t worse was because of the actions of a group of highly trained professionals- not Trump.

He pumped his fist after the shooter was killed. SS knew he was dead because they got an “All Clear” before moving Trump. You know this, so stop gaslighting us and condemning a man for bravely letting his supporters know he’s okay after getting shot in the face. You’re just scolding him to deflect from your deep shame and cowardice.

The SS knows there’s a chance of a second shooter or a coordinated attack which is why they are covering him with their bodies and trying to remove him from the scene. No one thought oh we are all good here, let’s get the rally going again. They are literally being used as human shields and he’s fighting them for a photo op. And people like it. Insane.

If I was shot in the face I would hope no one would Monday Morning Quarterback my defiant reactions. You sound like a total coward tbh.

+1

I'm not a Trump guy, but his pushing away secret service so that he could communicate with the crowd right after he got shot in the face is so obviously badass that I don't know how anyone could see it differently.

This must be a male/female difference. As a woman, I saw that as a reckless and dangerous (for him) move--even if he had been told the danger was over. But then I'm risk averse and am always playing it safe in life.

I am anti-Trump and I think his fist pump is both unequivocally badass and pure political genius. The photo of that fist in the air framed by the American flag, blood on his face after surviving a very serious attempt on his life, is absolutely historic. And in the end, it doesn't matter what DCUM thinks about this act - what matters is how American voters view it. Americans who love their machismo, their sports, and their crude symbolism will eat this up. In the end, this is a huge boost to Trump's campaign and his image.

In other words, the low IQ, low information voters will eat this up. No surprise.

In other words, the vast majority of people in this world.

You really are tiring, and kind of acting like a bully. Being hysterical instead of being able to rationally talk about gun access and control.

Guns kill people. The Dems have been trying to control access to save lives and to prevent mental health crises when people witness extreme violence. They position it as a right to health and a public health initiative.

On the other hand, the GOP has made it easier than ever for Americans to stockpile guns.

Should a 20 year old be able to buy an assault rifle?

FEC filing lists ActBLue donor city and ZIP code as Pittsburgh, not Bethel Park. There's a different Thomas Crooks who lives in Pittsburgh, he's in his 60s and has a youtube channel promoting Democrats.

He was heard on audio complaining about wanting to put his shoe back on after it came off when he went to the ground, completely oblivious to the security situation. And you could see Secret Service literally trying to pull him to keep moving when they approached the steps but instead he was posing for photos like an idiot.

Trump has lost his marbles.

You are blaming a man for his actions right after taking a bullet to the head?

The bullet barely grazed him. He has had Secret Service for nearly 8 years and damn well should know by now that they are there to do a job and that when a crisis hits you do not argue with them over dumb things like shoes or a photo op. If there was a protocol failure in getting Trump off of that stage, it was 100% because Trump was keeping them from doing their job.

Trump likely has hearing loss and a concussion. Allow your neighbor to graze your ear with the round from a rifle before you judge Trump. Report back how you felt after being grazed.

I doubt it. The shooter shot from many yards away. Hearing loss and concussion could happen if the shooting was close to his ear. It wasn't.
But, he definitely has a wound on his ear. Fortunately, that is all. It could have been much, much worse.
Divine intervention. Or, really really lucky.

Divine intervention, you jest. Before running for office in 2016, Trump said he didn’t believe in God. He didn’t even go to church.
