My guess is Sept 19 for ECNL and Aug 8 for GA.

What do you mean by “plans” for 26/27? ECNL is literally required to have school year registration in 26/27 - by US Club Soccer. The only announcement USCS / ECNL could make is exceptions for Q4s to play down in 25/26. My guess is nothing will happen with that.

seeing how they already have trapped player exceptions, those details are important

The details about 25/26 transitional rules are literally the only reason to keep this thread going.

But the question was when ECNL is going to make an announcement about its plan for 26/27. There's really nothing to announce - unless they decide to use GY at the older ages for showcases (not a terribly important issue).

Theres also a good chance ECNL and GA will implement some kind of exemption rule for trapped players born between 7/1 and 9/1. By doing this trapped players are completely eliminated.

Also leagues might do some kind of GY accommodation for regrade type situations when players are in their Junior and Senior years of HS and beyond.

With these two accommodations all edge cases are addressed and changing to SY from BY actually makes sense because you're getting something better which means less parent complaints.

It’s SY+60 guy. Yeah they might accommodate Jan to August birthdays so they can play down too. What a knucklehead.

I wouldn't say a good chance, or zero chance, but probably somewhere in the middle.

100% chance of this at U18/U19. It's why they have U19 now. Hard to say on whether they implement anything similar at younger age groups.

I'd say theres a very good chance of it happening. A league would get a RAE advantage and no trapped players which means less complaining parents. Allowing regrades when players are juniors and seniors means even less complaining by parents. Or more if your kid gets benched because of a regrade.

5% chance or less of anything other than a strict cutoff happening.

What is SY+60?

SY+60 is a 9/1 cutoff with 60 days before (ie 7/1-9/1) if you can prove grade enrolled in school and a birthcert. The +60 part just addresses all the remaining trapped players that exist with a single 9/1 cutoff.

Think about what would happen if ECNL was strict 9/1 and GA did something like SY+60.

First every older trapped player would likely go to a GA club.

Second, GA clubs would have a 2 month RAE advantage over ECNL clubs.

I'd say that theres a HUGE incentive to do SY+60. Its even more of an advantage if the other leagues stayed a strict 9/1.

I see your point. I think GA, being a girls only league and able to self-regulate, has the possibility of being a lot more flexible, and inclusive, in what they decide to do. Now whether or not they do it, is yet to be seen.

GA could even spin it that ECNL doesn't care about trapped players but we do. In reality GA would probably prefer to stay BY but if theyre going to be forced into SY might as well go all in not giving ECNL exactly what they want.

If this is the plan it would explain not making an announcement until the last minute. Because it will force other leagues to respond quickly and not planned out.

There would be no mythical advantage over other leagues. This would ensure even less play against teams in other organizations. Events would have to set the age restrictions, GA teams would have to not roster certain players for certain events or the other organization would add in other players for those events. That would piss way too many people off.

OR parents would avoid leagues with cheater rules and a 14 month RAE window.

Why is my late august birthday kid a cheater? Because we didn't send her to Kindergarten at 4?
