Fingers crossed. She told me it would be by the end of May (didn’t happen) or at the AGM in June (can still happen).

There’s no rush to announce anything. ECNL I’ve been told hasn’t even put any thought into an official announcement due to being governed by US Club.
They have left it up to the clubs to keep parents informed.

But back to my point GA has nothing to gain by saying we are doing this or that. Because that could cause problems for their own clubs.

Most ECNL clubs have kept their mouths shut about it. It’s very strange some parents on ECNL teams at big clubs had no idea when I mentioned it to them.
You could see the wheels turning when I explained 2010s Sept-Dec kids will play with 2011s. But clubs leaving parents in the dark until it becomes need to know is better for player control.

A clubs favorite parent is an ignorant one.

You mean like MLSN right now?

Everything is 1/1 now till 2026. wtf are you talking about?

Then why is there a Jan 2010 on my son’s 2011 team?
That doesn't even make any sense... the 10s that would be on 11 teams would be Q4.

There is a biobanding player who is 20 months older than my son.

Just wait until they get into HS, that could grow to almost 4 years!

You are misleading here. First, HS usually has three teams, and seniors play on the Varsity team. So if a freshman is outstanding, he can play in Varsity instead of the Freshman team. This is a play-up, not a senior play-down, in the Freshman team. Biobanding is an older player who plays one year down.

A lot of schools have just 1 team or maybe 2, depending on size and popularity of soccer in any given area vs. competing sports.

Yeah? and what they said still holds true - Seniors can't play on the freshman or JV team (at least I hope not). It's still optionally playing up, but you can never play down.

It's true seniors must play varsity, but I guess it's how you look at it, because some programs JUST have varsity and those with a lot of underclassmen typically have weaker teams. That's certainly playing down for those older players. I guess that's why they also have mercy rules where so many goals by halftime and its over.

No favor to Q4 during ECNL tryout. One of the new players on our NL team is a player with an August birthday and will serve as the bench player for the new season. Our club has a very close tie to ECNL leadership, so I doubt there will be any meaningful transit plan in place.

There will not be transit plans for ECNL they will play the full year out for BY and if that’s the case theirs no reason to cater to Q3/4 this year because it doesn’t matter. Easier for clubs to try and win this year and then figure it out next year.

What do they have to lose? If it’s going to switch anyway, there is no point in waiting since most all of the teams for 25/26 have been made. It would cause no more problems for clubs now than it would 7 months from now. If anything, they can get out in front of it with their plan, and lead the way. It’s still shocking to me that ECNL, after lobbying their asses off to get the change, has said nothing about it. Don’t give me the “well US Soccer did” because even that was soft. These leagues need to just put it out there so parents and kids can decide what to do next.

Again, they should have just made the transition this fall. Obviously teams are not making any transitions to rosters this season.

It would be nice for all the leagues to put out the information but they care first about $$$ and not giving info so parents and kids can decide what to do. Playoffs are starting in a few weeks and they won’t do anything to take the attention off that. I think we hear something in the dead period between 24/25 ending and 25/26 starting. I agree that it would be nice to know but finding out now or in two months won’t change anything.

What’s the hold up on the announcements?

Not sure? Maybe reach out to ECNL higher ups and ask. My buddy ECNL director asked and they told him they are going 9/1 and they have not discussed when they will announce it.

They don’t care about the 26/27 season yet.

Promised to who? You?

And what's wrong with GA highlighting call ups?

You are so bizarre.
