But are there any new rumors about transition plans? ECLN? If any

You know nothing. Just guessing like everyone else.

I feel like we're all wasting money this upcoming year, waiting for all our kids to be on new teams next year. The decision should have been made at the end of 2024 to have this change be implemented for the upcoming year.

I feel like you'd pay either way.

Definitely a wasted year if Q4 and Sept born players accept a demotion to a lower team for next year. Might as well just wait to practice in December with a bunch of new teams to set them up for Fall 2026.

9/1 cut offs U13-U17

essentially GY for U18/19 Seniors in high school.

GY showcases for U16-19
9/1 showcases U13-15
Nationals will be based off 9/1 until U19.

You’re welcome.

GA-Insider has found a new angle lol

About 800 pages or so ago I said that we would not hear anything until after the season and maybe not until August/September. Everyone said no that cannot be. Well it is. They have a plan but it is still subject to change and they may not roll it out until GA and the others do first. There is a possibility that they offer nothing until after next season is well underway -- maybe the fall.

Nice hedge

Not a hedge. This is the discussion at each place. No one wants to annouce this or be the first to do it.

If that's the case this year, you think they'll be ready for the following year? Granted it's a new player pool (Sept-Aug) but those in the best place to take advantage are the ones already nearest to the top.

The reality is every season is different and being on an elite team is not promised beyond the CURRENT season, so get the most out of whatever opportunity you have. Teams change every year regardless. No doubt probably more with the BY to SY switch but there are a ton of other factors that also come into play.

Tough to predict so just speculation but I can't imagine any scenario other than the next spring season being chaos as players looking for better teams and teams looking for better players even more so than usual as a third of the players become eligible for a new age category. Aka, everyone trying for the first mover advantage.DCUM is already packed with spring complaints of kids outside the team practicing and guesting for tournaments. Next year is going to be another level of musical chairs

So exactly the same as it always is.

Once all the different leagues decision on BY or SY is clear. Parents will start moving themselves around to whatever makes the most sense for their kid.

I bet GA and ECNL have jointly planned that GA delay announcing what they will do. They collectively want to keep the parents off-balance with as much uncertainty for as long as possible. If that's not true (and it's more about internal factors/rivalry), that's still the functional result.

Announce what?

ECNL / USCS have already announced that school year registration will be used in 26/27. Girls Academy has not made an announcement yet. So why would it need to be joint?

GA/MLSn announcements will be later this summer. They will be in line with rest of landscape and ECNL, otherwise they shoot themselves in the foot. Although could be fun to see the total effing chaos with many kids even switching mid season, if for some strange reason they do stay birth year.

Just for the pure entertainment value alone it would be glorious if GA went from 8/1 instead of 9/1. The extra pages that would add to this thread would be awesome! I see GA doing whatever helps them get just even a few extra kids.

Interesting take, although probably not worth the dual registration headache.

Being able to chose from all tournaments is probably more important than any perceived "business advantage" you could get from an 8/1

Or maybe 9/1 with a two month pervious exemption with approval. This way ALL trapped players are addressed.

This would force ECNL to do the same. Which was what the SY+60 guy was saying for multiple pages. A single cutoff date doesnt work by itself because theres still trapped players.
