Guess so. This year 2 or 3 boys will get rejected, most of the class is applying. STA won't accept all of them. Certainly the OD isn't telling every family that their DS is a shoe in this early. The Beauvoir-STA admissions process just began.

If the OD is wrong, come January the reject families will kick his arse.

"Shoo-in." Not "shoe-in." And don't forget the hyphen.

Damage control, OD?

OD does not get this comment.

Are you a family currently applying or did this happen during a previous admissions year? [/quote

not the pp, but we were told the same thing this year.

Umm, since your post is dated Oct 29th, this raises some questions , such as: how can OD state anything categorically in October before 3rd grade ERB's and STA exam result from November are back ? Seems to blow the meritocracy out of the water, no?

I have been told that Beauvoir applicants get an informal yes or no, through the Beauvoir Outplacement Director, around Thanksgiving. Has anyone heard anything this year?

Has anyone heard anything yet? What does "informal" mean?
Anonymous
Informal means the OD advises you as to whether you should have a backup plan or not, based on feedback from STA admissions. But you don't get an offer of admission in writing until after the new year.

This doesn't address your question specifically, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Overall acceptance rate for all grades seems to be about 40%, but that includes the Beauvoir kids, for whom the rate is much higher (maybe 80% if I had to guess).

Any surprises in what the AD told you? Do they cover more than just a yes or no?

Does anyone know if the numbers applying from Beauvoir are typical this year both the STA and NCS? (80% or so to STA and 90% or so to NCS)
Anonymous
Yeah, pretty typical. Maybe a bit higher than in the recent past for NCS.
