Battlefield doesn’t have the offense to keep up. They can’t hold Madison to 6 goals and rely only on their defense and goalie. You have to score at least 10-12 to beat Madison. The possessions will be long, so it will be a lower scoring game, but Madison will coke out on top. |
Fair response. And as noted, most posts have been charitable to the competition. Good look. |
BF won 9-7 the first game.. so much for having to score 10-12 to beat Madison. You have to score more than 7 to beat BF that’s for sure. |
Neutral party. You kind of have to deal with the fact that BF did beat Madison, without scoring 10 goals, earlier this season (and last), right? If you are suggesting that recent play and development of the Freshman in the Madison attack change the equation, that's plausible, but you have to deal with the facts too. |
| Not to ruin the party but didn’t BF already beat Madison once this season? |
Way to fart on the meringue and drop a turd in the punch bowl, jerk!

It was early in the season. Mad has been playing much better team lacrosse. Bf has I experience and their recent games showed their offense isn’t strong.. |
| There are two excellent teams playing for the state championship. It will come down to the circle. BF knows they can beat Madison. Madison knows they’ve improved. If both teams bring their A game this should be a good one. |
They don’t give state championship rings for how you played at the beginning of the season. How you are playing at the end is what counts. Madison is still blowing out good teams and battlefield is squeaking by. |
The BF trailer park is unwilling to see this. Their day will come soon.. |
^This. BF is a great team, has played some great competition. They looked much stronger earlier in the season. Madison has just gotten better and better. Their freshman have acclimated and they are just playing very sound lax. Madison just has to many weapons right now. Good run for BF but unfortunately will be bringing home that second place trophy again. |
| Defense wins championships and right now I would say BF’s is better and D is Madison’s weakest part of game if there is one. Circle will be the key like PP said. Nobody will be blowing out anyone in this game. |

Man, can't wait for this one! Many questions will be answered with this championship game. Will the Buffalo Bills (Battlefield) of girls' lacrosse finally get a ring? Is Madison the next great team in the state with the likes of Yorktown and Langley? Is the old addage of "defense wins championships" apply here? Or is it the "the best defense is a great offense"? No matter the outcome, we have a good one folks. We as fans, friends and family should take time and appreciate the hardwork, dedication, blood, sweat and tears the players, parents, coaches, administrators and the lacrosse communities. It's been another great season!
My Take ... - BF coaches will be very strategic with every possession as they know MAD can score in bunches. BF will try to keep this under 10 goals and make the most out of every possession and minimize the turnovers. BF is very capable of slowing down the game, test MAD's patience and frustrate both team and fans. You saw this at the end of the game, where they played keep away vs. Cosby, took only high percentage shots to put that game away. Defense is their key, anchored by the best goalie in the state (who I think is the POY, if they win this game). This defensive group will need to lock down, be aggressive, and cause a few turnovers. If they can generate more possessions, slow the pace, they'll be in the game. If they start the game the way they did against Cosby, sloppy and throwing the ball away, the game will get ugly fast, and MAD will blow them out. MAD's offense is exciting, so how can you not be excited!?!? From circle to goal, they are the best in the state. Surprising how they built chemistry so fast with such a young team. Kudos to Coach Counts and the coaching staff for building a great program, especially after losing last year's POY and other great players playing D1 now. Keys for MAD is simple, possessions. If they can control the circle, BF has no chance. Senior Attacker (my pick as POY if they win), and that offense can play and run with anybody and score at any time. Pace is another key, pushing the ball in every possession will be their advantage as they have more depth and speed. They can quickly put this game away with early scores and turnovers as BF doesn't have the firepower to comeback if MAD takes an early lead. Prediction: On paper MAD is the favorite, peaking at the right time, and seems to be getting better. Logic tells me MAD is the choice. BUT I love me some underdog, picking BF in this game to pull-off the upset in a close game and a nailbiter
Enjoy the game folks, be present and appreciate that we've again been treated with great season of girls lacrosse no matter the outcome! |
| Best post above in a long time!!! |
| Draw circle will determine the game. |
