VA Public Schools other than FCPS
Not APS staff. Just an actual parent who has been engaged on many planning efforts over the years and has actual kids who have been attending APS for several years and spent time in trailers. |
Ignorantly saying that it's never acceptable to have >100% capacity is no better. |
I would like to hear how Tuckahoe feels about this. If it was me, I wouldn't be pleased about a plan that will overcrowd my kid's school in year 1, and who knows how much after that. But I'd be even more upset if I was a Nottingham parent whose kid will get moved out of Nottingham into a trailer at Tuckahoe. |
Not at all. That's not what was said. It's not that it's never acceptable to have over 100 capacity. Sometimes it's unavoidable and schools have to deal. But it's unacceptable for APS to intentionally do that when it's not necessary. That's not the mark of a well thought out plan and if you can't see that, well.... I can't really help you. |
You sound so lovely. You're not helping your case. |
Hi open schooler, how are the private schools treating you? |
+1. Been there, done that, no thanks again. |
There is no apostrophe in “yours.” You did it twice. No, Autocorrect doesn’t change correctly spelled words either. |
You’re ridiculous. (not an employee of any school district, never have been and never will be, so don’t bother being predictable) |
It's one of many different factors considered when making these decisions. Again, it's ignorant to say it's never acceptable to consider it as an option. |
I would've learned this if I wasn't taught in a trailer at an overcrowded school! |
Well, I didn't write that post and I don't have kids at Nottingham but I do agree with it. How many of those who are for this plan don't have kids at the impacted schools and therefore have a very easy time telling others to suck it up and just deal with being moved into an overcrowded school. Not your problem, so the plan sounds peachy, right?! |
Jamestown has 85 pct. Why is Tuckahoe going to 113 percent, Discovery to 98 percent but Jamestown is staying the same? if this plan comes to pass, shouldn't they at least try to rebalance this area? |
+1. Thank you. It is mind boggling that people are now advocating for overcrowded schools. |
I think it should be considered and we should do what is best for the county overall, not just listen to the loud-mouth parents. Plans shouldn't automatically get killed because capacity may go over 100% for some period of time. |
