'21-22' DMV LACROSSE OUTLOOK

Anonymous
As much offensive talent as Prep had last year, they actually struggled to put up big numbers against anyone but St Albans and SSSA (where they were on pace to score about 50 until they pulled their starters). They had 7 or 8 guys who could score, but it’s not like they were scoring 15 a game. They were held to single digits several times throughout the season. They won with defense, goaltending, and possession.

2 of 3 starting defenders from last year’s team graduated. Expecting a Prep drop off in production, but an uptick in goals against may be the real killer.

They were as good as it gets in 2021 and should only be better in 22.

Regarding IAC, I still think the Lil Hoyas will be very good. I suspect the IAC will be come between Landon vs Prep. Saint Stephens will play the dark horse and look for Bullis to fade a bit.

SJC’s best middie, arguably, is in public school after a failed attempt to transfer to Spalding. Losing one of the top senior midfielders in the country is a step back.

Why did he leave SJC without being admitted to Spalding? I thought the complaint was that he didn’t get enough playing time at SJC? If that’s true, then how is that a loss for SJC? If he’s good, he’s good but him staying or going means nothing if he didn’t get playing time on that team.

He was a starter for 3 years and an Inside Lacrosse 4 Star prospect committed to Navy.

Giant turnover machine.
Only reason he has a four star ranking is because the Hawks coach subsidizes Ty’s income.

Cuse commit is way more complete player. PG couldn’t go left at all and was ineffective dodger once book out on him. Great athlete and could catch and shoot. But the offense was through the attack and that’s a reason he left.

Why can’t he get into Spalding ?

What public school is he in now?

SJC will probably just take him back as the school will do anything to win at all costs in any sport

They graduated a ton of 3 years starters from their 2021 team.

You are not taking into account their depth. Sure they graduated a ton of talented 2021s - like 18, 13 of whom were committed (many who played, but did not start, again that's the result of their depth). What people don't seem to realize is the depth of Prep's squad and the large number of lax players they have every year. Both the 2023s and 2024s have about 20 club lacrosse players per class, many of whom will be recruited and play in college. Some schools have about 20 kids on their team total (and most of them won't play in college). Prep has four 2023s who are ranked in the top 50 nationally (that's significantly more than any other team in DMV), they also have tons of other highly talented and motivated boys who will also be recruited and play their hearts out this spring.

Gee thanks, Prep Dad.

You forgot to mention about half of the players on their roster should be in the grade ahead.

Its borderline embarrassing how old some of your current 2023's

Lastly, lacrosse is not like football where you need vast amounts of depth. The game is a lot less physical than it used to be. Case and point, look how small McDonogh's roster is year in and year out, and they are always in the think of things. Bullis has a relatively small roster given its a co-ed school and they have been winning banners for several years in the IAC.

Plank showed up at the kids house with a bag of cash to get him back at St. John’s

I suspect you are affiliated with the SJC program.

Assuming you are, it's kinda F***** up to trash a former teammate on a forum.

You see kids transferring left and right at th collegiate leve these days due to playing time, academics, and social issues, I wish the kid all the best in his new school.

Hi Mr. Garza. Just a statement of fact (not the turnover machine comment, which is trashing him). You didn't like that the '24 was the key to the offense and you pulled your son from SJC. Free country and it's your choice. But the team won't miss a beat. What will be interesting to see is if SJC can keep it up after the loaded '22 class graduates.
