No, MLS Next players cannot play for another team so there is no way for them to dual roster on ECNL. If that's VA Union FC's plan they'll be in trouble quick. Looks like most of SYC's B team players will make up some spots in ECNL, but only if they're willing to paying the additional $1K from what they're paying now. Now that SYC has all the MLS Next age groups I don't see many SYC players moving to play ECNL. Either way there's too much politics and favoritism in one coach picking the team. There are clearly some kids on current MYS ECNL teams because of their "outside the club relationship" with the coach and not on the team because of their soccer ability. Some are just on there because the coach likes them, but again their play is lacking and shouldn't be on the team. So in the end the coach is fielding a team, but not the best possible team due to all of the politics which is sad because the coach should really be fielding the best team and not because a parent is a friend of the coach.. There are some being brought from the outside but don't really seem like they will improve the VA Union team so will be interesting if the alliance is really going to field a better team? |
| Any players get offers for the new VA Union team coming from outside both McLean and SYC? |
|
It seems pretty clear that the MLS next teams will ultimately be the top boys Virginia Union FC teams. Likely they will practice more often in Springfield area than in McLean area. Will they wear green socks with their white uniforms? Probably...
Will Virginia Union FC also continue to compete in Boys ECNL long term. Maybe? |
MLS Next players can't dual roster and play ECNL. It's not allowed according the MLS Next regulations. MLS Next players cannot play on another team during the MLS Next season. Look at p.15 in the regulations. Outlines what MLS Next players are limited to. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://bsbproduction.s3.amazonaws.com/portals/116/docs/mls%2520next%2520rules%2520and%2520regulations%25202020-2021%2520-%2520final%2520-%25209.8.20.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwippuSr8rPwAhXAKVkFHTE5Dk0QFjAAegQIAxAC&usg=AOvVaw0CF_MTF3nAYCfjGTaPTdwx SYC will stay MLS Next and VA Union will be able to pull B Team SYC players and McLean A team players that want to play ECNL. So there isn't going to be any dual rostering between SYC MLS Next and the VA Union team unless they want to lose the MLS Next status. Looks like SYC and McLean should have looked a little closer at the MLS Next rules before creating this alliance. |
You did not read the section about "Future Players". Players can play on ECNL and be MLS Next "Future Players". |
See pages 26 and 27 of document referenced above. |
| Is there a rule against ECNL and MLS next combined practices? |
Yes. Teams caught doing this are expelled from both ECNL and MLS Next. This is a big no-no. |
But it is OK to scrimmage ECNL teams? |
You mean the 13 future players averaged across all ECNL teams in a club. That number is insignificant |
|
I believe you are allowed 13 future players per team (see page 25). If you can't have more than 13 on any team it is hard to exceed the average of 13 per team.
You can get an infraction for violating the spirit of the rules (lol). |
All these rules. All these controls. Grown up kids playing with their human dolls. What a joke. |
No-no. |
Yes yes
