Which celebrity death(s) impacted you the most?

Jim Henson. I feel like the Muppets and, to a lessor degree, Sesame Street were a big part of my childhood.

Prince
Ethel from I Love Lucy
River Phoenix
David Bloom
Brandon Lee
Princess Diana

I was thinking about David Bloom a couple of weeks ago. That one upset me too. My husband has had a couple of DVTs, so I guess that's why I've always freaked out when my husband has had one.

Chadwick Boseman hit me way harder than someone I didn't know. It still really makes me sad and I have trouble listening to Chris Cornell still. Very strange how strangers can stir up such emotion.

Tupac - Don't laugh! I was still a teenager and had just broken up with my boyfriend so already emotional. I got in my car and heard the news. It was horrible. I was so emotional and crying and being a teen of course I drove anyway - and got lost. ugh. it was a rough day

Luke Perry - my childhood crush and seemed like a good guy. I definitely cried. I'm still sad about him.

Chadwick Boseman - one of my adult celebrity crushes and it was so shocking. Another one I cried and am still sad about.

This was sad for me too, he had a young family
I saw LP perform less than a year before this at an overseas festival

Yes, you are right. Part of what bothers me so much about Prince's death is the sadness of it (alone, on pills, in an elevator, not found for hours), and that it was too soon. We understand when death comes for RGB or Sean Connery - we are sad but it's part of the natural course of things. It hurts so much more when they are too young.

Yes it is incredibly sad and depressing to think of anyone dying alone.

Me too... It really is so sad. He was such a great guy and so talented. I lost a friend to that same kind of cancer. She had zero risk factors - it is a brutal cancer.

I was impacted by some of these because of shock (River Phoenix, Princess Di), but many more because it is a sign of my own aging - actors who my kids barely know and aren’t surprised by their deaths because they seem older, but I think of as big stars and well remember them in their youth (Alan Rickman, Philip Semour Hoffman).

I'm sure it's been said, but I had to say it, too. Heath Ledger. A gorgeous talent that was the only poster I ever put on my walls.

Also James Horner, my favorite film composer (Titanic, Braveheart, Apollo 13, the list goes on)

Oh, no! I hadn't heard of his death until reading your comment, but he really did seem like a wonderful person and it is very sad...

But from prior to reading this post: David Foster Wallace

Dan Fogelberg, because I remember hearing the deejay reporting his death on the radio right around Christmas in my car on my way home from work.

Now “Same Old Lang Syne” feels incredibly sad to me whenever I hear it.

Chadwick Boseman (my mom has the same kind of cancer)
RBG

The ones that will absolutely crush me in the future will be Bruce Springsteen and the Obamas.
