Trayon is the councilmember from Ward 8. Anita Bond is at large. I wish Ward 8 folks would protest the dimwit. People on council think Trayon is the dumbest person ever. They literally don't pay him any attention. Have no idea why they like him so much. Sadly, as long as he is the councilmember from Ward 8, that part of the city will suffer.

Why wouldn't we have fewer police officers if other people are handling most of the other needs?

This and why the love for police? Many aren't even DC residents! They come in from Ohio and have little understanding of city life.
More mental health, social workers, homeless support, less cops with guns.
And the none-leathel support needs to be from a separate budget. Stop trying to teach police to be social workers.
