I understand that this was very abrupt to switch education from in-person to on-line. I give them a break for the rest of this year (to some degree).

But, this whole school board meeting and the big FAIL gives me no confidence at all that FCPS is going to handle next school year well.

I watch Cuomo's press conf. everyday. He gives the impression of being seriously on the task and giving us the facts. I would feel comfortable following him into battle. Watching the FCPS administrators, I do not have confidence and would not want to follow them into battle. It would be like the Keystone Cops.... bumbling into each other and getting captured by the enemy. a mess.

Please don't talk about Cuomo.... so many people dying under his watch right now!

And I don't think he is personally to blame. But that's off topic for this thread.

If you have followed our schoolboard for the past couple of years, you would see that as they have gotten more and more dominated by one side, their focus has been very far from the basics of educating the students.

Their emphasis has been on Ryan McEleven inspired pet projects that have zero to do with education.

Add that to a bloated Gatehouse full of overpaid "leaders" and now we have what we have.

I would bet most Fairfax residents have never set foot into fcps main office building. If they did, they would be stunned by how top heavy this district is.

The school board has been very poor stewards of our resources and students for many years, and have gotten a pass due to so many quality teachers.

I've seen their 'a la carte' cafeteria. They for sure don't eat what they feed the kids everyday!

I think that when this is over and social distancing is relaxed, every voter in fcps needs to take a little bit of time to walk through the main school district office complex to see what they are voting for.

This Luftglass woman is insufferable.

That's actually not THAT much money when you think about the size of the system.

And Blackboard is kicking people off the school board meeting, making them log back in repeatedly. Shit.Show.

So bascially it's all SBTS and teachers' fault. Got it, Branband.

And FCPS lady is saying no one warned them what could happen.

IT woman said that it was just word of mouth among teachers to set things up via guest links. It wasn't the IT dept who caused this, according to her, it was other teachers giving bad info to their fellow teachers.

That is a bold faced lie. Teachers were given their moderator link, and then a guest link to give to students.

No option other than open guest link was provided to this teacher.

Can confirm- it was assigned to us. We didn't create anything.

Yup!

Man, Luftglass just loves blaming teachers for everything.

Yes, 'FCPS failed our teachers and didn't prepared them adequately'

He's an absolute idiot.

IT person here. From waht I saw, the issue is not on BB's side. THey have plenty of capacity. It's the login side (used for more than just BB, also other services). That part uses FCPS servers and they couldn't handle the load.
