My Doctor husband came home crying yesterday

If you have access to N95 masks please donate. Hospitals in MA have 1 week left. If you know anyone with 3D printing capacity, hospitals are looking to make their own. See Mass General. It is really really bad.

How is it possible that hospitals did not have a stockpile of protective gear for their doctors and nurses? Why is it impossible to order more of these supplies? There is no way that they should be asked to work under these conditions. The current situation makes no sense-I don't understand how it got to this point.

China is blocking export. The US does not make masks.

The US makes tons of masks. Globalists in Congress gave China the right to make the mask for medical use through trade deals. Trump did away with that and now we are making masks for our medical personnel right here in the US, starting with 3M

You are misrepresenting. 3M has a factory in China. American companies were not prohibited from manufacturing masks. China bought up all the supply when the pandemic started, leaving the rest of the world with shortages.

Umm...I live in Maryland. When a Maryland hospital asks for donations I’ll give them my N-95 masks.

There are stockpiles. There are just not enough for the surge we’re about to see.

Do you know that they haven’t asked for a donation? I’d be shocked if you called your local hospital and they refused.

Doesn’t matter. Why do YOU have them? There is no conceivable reason why a random non healthcare worker at home, getting groceries delivered to their doors needs them. Even if you go to a grocery store, you don’t need an N95 mask you selfish jerk. Hospitals all over are hurting for them while they sit in your garage and you watch Netflix

That is incorrect - please provide a link (and I can guess where it came from) . Only 15% of our masks made here can go for medical use. The rest go to construction, etc. That's been done away with. Didn't you notice that all of a sudden, hospitals, etc can take donations when they could not before? That's because the regulation was lifted by Congress.

Not PP. Chill out. Your anger is misdirected. Why try to shame others? They did nothing wrong preparing ahead of time.

Even if we at DCUM donated our N95 masks, it won’t make a small dent in the number of masks needed. Your righteousness is better directed at our government and its so called leaders.

NP. I have some so I don't have a massive asthma attack and possibly die when I clean the garage, garden and other activities. I bought them at Home Depot a while back, and frankly? They were plentiful at the time.

What you really should be asking yourself is why there was not a supply stockpiled after swine flu hit - this was inevitable.

“Prestige Ameritech is presently the lone voice warning of the insecure U.S. mask supply,” Bowen wrote to President Barack Obama in June 2010. “Apathy and inertia are our biggest hurdles.”

“The U.S. protective mask supply could — and mostly likely would — be disrupted, confiscated or diverted in the event of a pandemic,” Bowen wrote to President Trump three years ago."

You’re ignorant and so misinformed. That’s what your simple mind believes. US companies moved their own manufacturing to China (and I’m talking about maker of supplies like masks) because they wanted to exploit the cheap labor there and increase their profits for shareholders and themselves. When the virus hit China probably bought as much as they could to use and then as other countries started needing more and more masks, production couldn’t keep up. We don’t invest in our health systems in the US. Ask anyone in the healthcare industry in the US. That is the simplified version of why.

There are plenty of mask makers here. Trade deals with China restrict how many medical masks we can make here in the States.
