The parents are in pain. They have also been begging to speak with the woman. This was a poor idea. They cannot have what they really want: their son back. Painful situation for all.

They want to meet the woman in the UK, not be ambushed in the White House with a photo op.

She no longer needs diplomatic immunity as she is in the US. Also highly unlikely she will be extradited. If they sue her in the U.K. courts, the judgement cannot be enforced, and they have no grounds to sue in the US.

Honestly, it brings anguish into the life of Mrs. Sacoolas. Similar to themselves, they don't want the Sacoolas family to enjoy a moment of mental respite. She has been throughly named and shamed in both the US and UK media. The Dunn family knows they have no avenue to right this wrong, so they are taking their case to the court of public opinion.

I'd do the same if I was in their shoes. They are powerless and they know it. They can't even sue for monetary damages or mental anguish. They want the Sacoolas family to suffer the social consequences of cowardice. The Sacoolas family will likely need to change their name in the future.
