| Would any of the Deal booster club or basketball parents care to comment on the boys game against Jefferson last night? Do you see what happens when you play AAU players. |
You certainly have a lot invested in MS athletics. Why is that? |
Looking to see what talent will be coming thru to Wilson and etc. |
Why? |
By aggressively recruiting transfers for a couple of years, Wilson done well (although not as well as their talent level would have predicted). But that approach comes at a cost. That's why no seniors who came up through the program are still there. They are either playing at other schools or playing other sports. Looking at the DMV 19/20 transfer list, I see that the trend has continued this year, with 3 kids transferring in and one previous transfer moving on. https://www.dmvelite.com/news_article/show/1038970 This seems like a real shame for a public comprehensive high school. |
The better question is how in the hell are ‘transfer’ students getting into a school that has no available seats for students on its wait list. Or is transfer a euphemism for buying or renting a home IB for the school? |
One kid went from a private to Wilson and one kid went from a charter to Wilson. The kid that went from private could very well already be IB for Wilson (there are a lot of kids IB for Eaton, Hearst, and Shepherd that go to private vs. Wilson). I guess the same could be said for the kid that went to Chavez or they could have moved IB. Nonetheless, I doubt there is anything fishy going on being as though the Wilson coach was heavily investigated already last year. PP, I’d just assume the kids are IB and not assume the worst because the kids are black. |
I don’t think there were any “boosters” on this thread. Jefferson is the best team in the city. Nobody expected to beat them. I am the PP that pointed out they beat Hart only because another PP said they wouldn’t get passed Hart. |
I also know the kid that left Wilson for a private. It’s pretty common. He already committed for college. He is IB for Wilson, has been his entire life. He’s a top 100 ranked kid in the country. |
When you are IB or "At Risk" (ie homeless, military, and etc) the school is obligated to take you. |
|
No school is obliged or required to take an at risk student - unless in this case Wilson (Hardy/Deal/Adams) was the school they were enrolled in and then they later became homeless.
And I highly doubt any student IB for Wilson chose Chavez initially but it is theoretically possible. |
| And same for military. They cannot go wherever they wish. |
People do move IB. There are kids IB for Wilson that live in Mt Pleasant that go to Chavez. |
| Why do people think Wilson is the end all be all? I say this as someone IB for Wilson. Wilson is no Deal. |
Why would you go there? Since your up in their business the mother has lived off of Nebraska for 10 years and the father doesn’t. Not everyone wants to attend Wilson initially. |
